Counter Gunships

Hi all,

I'm facing a force heavy on Gunships (there must be 20 or more of 'em). I've found no way to keep my stacks safe from them - I use a combined Modern Armor / Mech Inf / SAM Inf / Artillery stack.

However, when the Gunships attack, it's usually the Mech Infs, not the SAMs that defend, and they lose, too!

What else could I try?

Monarch level, base game without expansions.

Mech infantery should eat gunships...

Mech Infantry shouldn't have too much trouble beating gunships - they have a much higher base strength even without promotions.

Even without the bonus vs. helicopters, mech infantry are still better against gunship than SAM infantry are, so I wouldn't waste your time building SAMs once you get mech infantry.

Mech infantry may lose occassionally against gunships, but they do have the upper edge.
