So in some jurisdictions ot cam be hard to get squatters out. If someone enters your house it's breaking and entering. If they move their stuff in they're squatters.

In California they can claim they have a lease and the cops csmy verify it and it's a civil matter. The landlord can't evict them easily. Tenant rights.

But there's a loophole. You can squat yourself in a squatters house.

This guy kinda forces them out. He waits for them to leave the house, moves in himself with a lease from the landlord or his mother (squatters moved in after his dad died and she left the house).

Change the locks, put utilities in your name, move your stuff in and their stuff out. Install security. Now they have to go to court to evict you. But you're the legal tenant. Landlord cant do it you can.

Alternatively you move in yourself with half a dozen of your large burly friends.

"your house" and "landlord" seem like an interesting way to phrase this. Isn't there an issue with landlords owning empty houses r.e. the rental market?

Depends on situation. Leave for holiday come back to squatters.

Or in that guy's case father died, mother moved into home and was trying to sell the house.

Not really, not interested in derailing the thread replying to something based on cherry-picking two words out of a post. Have fun!
Cherry picked?

Your premise seems to be a lil old lady having rights to her own home is a suspect premise.

Which struck me as shocking enough to want to inquire further as to what your beliefs were (that seems to be the point of the forum, besides generally killing time).

My view is that right to safety is ones own home is a pretty basic prerequisite for a civilized society.

But run away if you like. 👋

No, that's a premise you invented for reasons I can only guess at. Send me a PM if you'd like, but I'd rather not mess up Zardnaar's thread with whatever you think this is. You can say I'm running away if that makes you feel better.

That's the problem for politicians, no?

Do you leave your key in the lock and welcome all comers?
No it's a problem for society dude, most americans are barely one step removed from being on the street, you should care about this before you are forced to

The guys with 5+ homes probably have the resources to defend them better than the little old ladies, but they're not sympathetic victims.
Anyone who gets their home invader is a sympathic victim. This will only happen to middle class people anyone Uber wealthy gonna have security in place.

Homelessness is a systemic problem that requires systemic solutions not breaking into the homes of middle class people.

Food scarcity is a problem too but shoplifting from the bodega down the street isn't the solution.

It is though. You can't give people no options to eat, even if it is their fault however you define that, and not expect them to take action.

Theft to eat is a solution. There is not an alternative to eating.

You've offered zero solutions beyond "don't be poor"

The solutions required to solve homelessness would terrify your property/wealth-poisoned mind so spare me this "B-But think of the middle class" rhetoric

It's not my job to save the world, just take care of my kids.

The solutions required to solve homelessness
Which ones? You have any besides breaking and entering?

would terrify your property/wealth-poisoned mind
I wish I had all the money you thought I had. :(

I don't need to think of them, they think of themselves and by making them your enemy you ensure your own alienation.
