Has anybody figured out if you need to settle 1 hex away from a natural wonder in order to get it's bonuses? I have settled 2 hexes away and it doesn't seem to be doing anything.

Second question, how to upgrade units? At least, can warriors be upgraded to spearmen, and how is it done?

Cheers.

Don't you get the bonuses by working the tile?

That's the problem, I can't seem to work the tile. It's good enough that it should be getting worked before a naked hill or some others. The hex is 2 directly below my city.

To upgrade units, select the unit, make sure it's inisde your borders, there will be an upgrade icon on the left menu.

Warriors don't upgrade to spearmen.

Try to buy the tile?

Ahhh.

Any reason why it wouldn't auto-expand into that one? Compared to the rest of the culture expansion choices it seems a bit odd.

I can buy it btw, at 2.5x cost. I just assume such a rich tile would be higher up the list. Cheers btw ;)

Culture shoots for resources first, then whatever it feels your city needs (food/gold/production) and it's also less likely to go for a high cost tile.

Looking at it, I think it won't go near non-food hexes unless something drastic happens. I suppose it's fair enough, make the player buy the really good tiles. You can see in my screenshot it's gone for a simple 2 food grassland instead of the natural wonder.

Is anybody else noticing bottlenecks that suggest the maps are hand drawn?

Just wondering after getting this in my first game. Thats the only way in or out between us, and there is another near the Russian border (thought not just a single hex).
