I'm not able to run the "Learn as You Play" tutorial in DX10/11. (haven't tried DX9, don't care to). This is the Steam release.

The random ruler pops up and I get the narrative, I click on the begin button when it appears, and the display then freezes until the C++ runtime crashes out.

I'm on a two year old Alienware ALX, Win7 x64, all the latest nvidia/nforce drivers. I have no problems playing games like Red Faction, CTD4:MW, or the Crysis releases.

I'm able to get into the quick play option and so far all is good.

I can live without a tutorial - been playing since Civ1 on the C64. Felt I should report it though.

Spoke too soon - got into my first turn of the quick play, got my new city all set, then zoomed into the city so see that new interface. I clicked away the advisor popup and it locked up again.

I'm going to go down to DX9 after all and see what happens there. I'm still running with the recommended video settings created by the installer so I'll also experiment with dialing down under DX11 if DX9 is more stable.

Mine is doing this too, all drivers are current. I tried playing the tutorial in DX9, worked fine...

DX9 has been fine so far for me too.

All the civ games must have really lousy internal drivers - every one of them tasks my machine harder than any frame-sensitive FPS.
