I am at wits end!!!
I absolutely love the Civilization
series and currently am running Civilization IV (v.
1.74) with the Warlords (v.2.13) & Beyond the Sword (v.
3.02) expansions. After first installing the BTS
expansion, I was able to play: at the maximum
resolution, no anti-aliasing, and high graphic settings
until about 12 hours into the game. I began have
problems such as the background going black when talking
to leaders (it usually shows the map in the background)
and crashes to the desktop.
I have read all the FAQs in the forum and tried some of
those ideas to help fix these issues.
I have applied all the most recent game patches and the
most recent audio and video drivers, etc. etc.
I have decreased the graphic settings to minimum levels
all to no avail.
I have shut down all other non-essential programs prior
to running BTS.
I have adjusted the game settings in the 'Civ4confi.ini'
file.
I even tried reinstalling the game twice and once more
while in 'Safe Mode'.
All that happens now is a crash to the desktop after
only completing ONE TURN - every time. I never had sooo
many problems with a game until now. I had a random
crash to the desktop while playing Warlords, but nothing
like this.
It really SUCKS to have a game, that you love so much,
treat you like this!
I am appealing to those of you whom might have any ideas
to get these issues addressed and get the game up and
running again.
Please help.
