crashing and 3 files keep needing to be validated

So Ive been getting back into Civ V and recently downloaded Vox Populi. The problem is I will be making decent progress into the game only to have it crash on me. When I go to start up an autosave from the turn before the game does not load in and just crashes to the desktop. When I verify files on steam it keeps saying that 3 files needs to be validated and it downloads those files. This is a vicious cycle and every time i open Civ V now I verify the files only to tell me that 3 files need to be validated. Is there any way to check which files are corrupt or keep showing up as missing? I have searched for any resolution and while Ive seen some people have had the same issue none has helped solved the issue.

You will always get 3 files to be validated. They are launcher related, and have nothing to do with game play.

So the crashing is separate from this? Any way I could turn the launcher off or would the same files need to be validated still?

Unrelated to any crashes. Those three files don’t actually need to be validated. Launching the launcher makes benign, one-time changes to those files.

Im running into this issue now 4.5 years later. I don't understand what the fix was. Is there a better explanation than "The files don't actually need to be validated"? because no matter what I do the game still doesn't launch for me.
