Hello all, Ive really been wanting to try this mod out but Ive been running into tons of issues. My only successful run has been with Japan. Every other civ I try and play (including japans neighbors) crashes on the first 5 turns. I got greece up to 8 turns.

The .exe installer method just gives me memory bugs on startup and is unplayable from turn 1. The github version is the only one thats semi playable but like I said above Ill be moving the map or clicking on a city and the game just freezes. Any advice? Im on the latest version of BTS.

Are you using Steam?

If so you need to switch to the original release version as the standard steam version is incompatible with most mods. (Due to integrating Steam multiplayer or something along this line.)

You need to select the original release version that is available as a beta. It is labelled as unsupported, but never mind that.

If that does not solve your problem, how much RAM do you have? How much is CIV using?

Yes I am using Steam with the original_release_unsupported version. I have 64g of RAM, a pretty solid build too. It doesn't seem to be taking up too much memory, I'm only using 17% with the mod open on turn 1 according to task manager.

I tried another older 1.17 github version, and its working for a little bit longer (got up to 13 turns) but it still gives me the bug crash + instacrash everytime I try to reload the same save.

RAM seems fine. (Civ 4 can use a maximum of 4GB due to being a 32bit application. Normally this is limited to 32bit, but there is a flag that can be set to allow up to 4GB, see this thread. It should be set in the steam version by default. You might want to check anyway.)

Did you rename the mod folder to "RFC Dawn of Civilization"? This mod relies on the mod folder having this exact name.

Do you perhaps have multiple folders in the Mods directory with the same name? If so, rename/delete/move all but the one you want to use.

How does the folder structure in the DoC folder look like? It should be Mods/RFC Dawn of Civilization/Assets and some other folders. It should not be Mods/RFC-DoC/RFC-DoC/Assets.

Hi, I'm using steam and the game crashes all the time once it's the late global era. How do I know if I selected the right (unsupported) version?

Same way as you opt into betas: right click, properties -> betas. The drop-down menu has the option "original_release_unsupported".
