Creation Museum Marries Adam, Eve and Dinosaurs

Simple: if science proves you wrong, you don't get to teach.

That's stupid. That's tremendously stupid. And anti-scientific, too.

The Aristotlean science of Copernicus' day "proved" that he was wrong. All advances in science are made by denying the previous theory as insufficient.

Let me ask you this:

Who defines that is "science"?

You? The state? The party in power at the moment? The intellectual elite?

What the right to practice your religion? If your religion is detrimental to others, sorry, but I don't give a damn.

'Hah, what if science is wrong?' - then we change what we teach, duh. School science is hardly going to be changed by the latest advances in quantum mechanics now is it?

it doesn't make me mad that they visit the museum it makes me mad that they claim that the theory of evolution is root of all evil and i dont think they should call it a museum

So, people are going to claim all sorts of wild and crazy stuff. Scientology and Xenu for instance. Some people really believe in Star Wars. Aliens. Big Foot. Loch Ness Monster.

Big deal. Let em, but dont hate them for it.

Less "care" more "point and laugh."

We will "care" when such idiolatry* appears in a state that matters, not one that already has a reputation for raising stupid hicks with no futures. Kentucky, heh. What, are they in a race with Georgia and South Carolina to see who can reach the eighteenth century first? Cuz Mississippi's already there.

*not a misspelling.

So now since such a museum is being built in Kentucky, the whole state is now full of stupid hicks with no futures?

PP your ability to commit logical fallacy knows no bounds. But then again, its all part of the propaganda model to demonize ones opponents in such fashion.

Btw....Abraham Lincoln was born in Kentucky. As were a good number of other famous non-hick people.

As long as I don't violate any fundamental rights of anyone, it's irrelevant whether or not my religion is detrimental, you'll have to let me practice it anyway.

As I said, separation of Church and State cuts both ways.

'Hah, what if science is wrong?' - then we change what we teach, duh. School science is hardly going to be changed by the latest advances in quantum mechanics now is it?

At the time of Copernicus, astronomy was a very abstract field, the same way QM is today. And FYI, but we DID learn fundamental QM at school.

You're saying that YOU will get to coercively decide what will get taught to children, trampling roughshod over the rights of others, and you claim the moral high ground, too.

You are as bigoted as a medieval churchman trying to stamp out heresy.

Simple: if science proves you wrong, you don't get to teach.

From another thread...can you absolutely prove beyond a doubt that God didn't set up the earth, all the fossils, and so forth to LOOK like it's billions of years old as a test of faith, while in reality it is indeed only 6000+ years old? (no, I don't believe that, btw). It is, after all, God we are speaking of here. He's omnipotent, so it's not outside the realm of possibility, from a religious point of view.

So, use science to absolutely prove, beyond all possible doubt, that God did not use his omnipotent power to make the earth appear billions of years old as a test of faith, and I'll happily join you in tearing this museum down brick by brick. Actually, no I wouldn't since it's still a freedom of religion issue and we care about that over here.

So now since such a museum is being built in Kentucky, the whole state is now full of stupid hicks with no futures?

Actually I think it's more the other way around.

People are less outraged than they otherwise would be because they go, "Eh. It's Kentucky."

If this happened in a state that people went to instead of from, we'd have a problem.

Btw....Abraham Lincoln was born in Kentucky. As were a good number of other famous non-hick people.

As was Lynndie England, we could go round n round on this, my point was that Kentucky and the South have a bad rap for being anti-intellectual and suffering from brain drain, and with stuff like Creationist Museums, maybe they deserve it.

Maybe they really don't care what someone not from there thinks of them...

Which only justifies letting those to laugh at them! :p

Well yes, that's true. But the laughing is wasted if the folks being laughed at don't care.

That would only count if the purpose of laughing at them is to hurt them in some way - it isn't. Laughter surely isn't wasted by laughing at the morons here at CFC!

Ah yes, the venerable You-Yanquis-Think-Our-Part-Of-The-Country-Is-Retrogressive-Well-You-Kin-Just-Giiiiiiiiiiiit-Out Syndrome. It's done so much for the South.

Its amazing that that part of the country doesn't like Castro.

I live right near this, I plan to go to get a chuckle.

I have also just written a blog post about this. It would not be shameless plugging if i posted the link, would it? If it is, just flame me.

Evolution leads to pornography and abortion? When did that happen? Why wasn't I sent the memo?

vampires you forgot VAMPIRES

as one mega church had a statue of liberty holding up a crucifix instead of a torch. Two small kids commentted that without the torch it would be hard to see in the dark. The other child thought for a moment and then said the cross would be useful against vampires.

 :D
