Crossroads of the World Collection - Ada Lovelace

The first half of the paid Crossroads of the World Collection includes the new leader Ada Lovelace, the new civs Great Britain (Modern Age) and Carthage (Antiquity Age), and the Natural Wonder Pack including four new Natural Wonders: Machapuchare, Mount Fuji, Vihren, and Vinicunca.

From childhood, Ada Lovelace inspected the world through a scientist's eyes. Forging a path between intellectualism and imagination, she applied her mathematical mind to the nineteenth century's most cutting-edge experiments. Working with mechanical computers, which made calculations using gears and punch cards, she designed the first computer program, establishing the field of computing over a century before technology caught up to her vision.

Unique Ability​

Enchantress of Number: Cities receive increased Science per Age when you complete a Civic Mastery. This resets at the start of each Age. Gain Culture equal to a percentage of your total Science per turn when you complete a Technology Mastery.

Agendas​

Analytical Engine: Increase Relationship by a Small Amount for the leader with the most Masteries. Decrease Relationship by a Small Amount for the leader with the fewest Masteries.

It's a mixed thing. On one hand, having more voice lines looks good, on the other hand, fully voiced lines on common occasions become old really quickly. "Would you be interested in a trade agreement with England?"

Yeah, I think some collection of really short replies would be nice.

I hope we eventually see more leaders with unique actions or special projects. Lovelace is interesting, but I'm not a huge fan of some of the passive abilities where you leave it in the background and it does its thing. I mean, you CAN choose to prioritize masteries, but I imagine most of the time you'll be researching something else.

She overall looks good to me, although one of the first things I noticed is that she is /really/ short. I think the only character shorter than her is Trung Trac. I dunno if that's historically accurate, or what. But it was noticable lol

Lovelace is interesting, but I'm not a huge fan of some of the passive abilities where you leave it in the background and it does its thing. I mean, you CAN choose to prioritize masteries, but I imagine most of the time you'll be researching something else.

I've been playing around with her, and I find it's often useful to go for early masteries with her to speed up later research (much like with Maya, who she of course pairs amazingly with, plus if you've got it unlocked you can give her Ben Franklin's bifocals as a memento to get 50 Influence every time you complete a mastery, which is useful.) I still have first-level priorities in the initial stages of each age (Mysticism, Discipline, Code of Laws in Antiquity,; Piety, Economics, Theology in Exploration, for instance) but after I've grabbed the immediately-necessary early stuff, it's helpful to get the train a-rollin', and the bonuses do start to add up.
