Crusader Kings 2

I'm surprised by the vitriol spewing everywhere on the CK2 forums about realism, as if Crusader Kings II had ever really worried about logistics before. For example

Because you would totally make a duke go all the way to India to deliver a letter, and the travel expenses of a singular person would have a noticeable impact on your treasury.

Being strong really helps on the whole living a crazy long time thing. Especially if he gets up to brilliant strategist. The two of those traits combined actually more than cancelled out the health lost from being infirm. He eventually died at 84, after being infirm for 15 years and still managing to impregnate his wife three times.

Emperor Heinrich the Great lived to 85 in my game, despite not being strong. I'd been expecting him to kick the bucket for a few decades by that point. At that point he was in the top 10 oldest nobles in the known world - the oldest was 90.

Here's a picture of the religious situation in my current game, in 1355. Heresy is rampant!

It all started when one of my vassals happened to be Cathar, and also happened to be an extremely loyal and useful vassal. Then one of my bishops recommended I convert to Lollard, I did, the next Empress came to my court and converted as well, and the rest is history. It did take awhile, but Lollard is well on its way to becoming the mainstream branch of western Christianity.

The Monophysite dominance over Miaphysite in Ethiopia, however, I had nothing to do with. Likewise with the significant Monothelite/Bogolomist/Iconoclast factions in the former Byzantine Empire, or the Yazidi/Ibadi factions in the west. I think those arose largely due to lack of authority for the mainstream variants.

What I've noticed in my Ethiopia game is that Monophysite's are a pain to get rid of, so its not surprising to see them do that.

Getting back to the "Is that Oman" debate, it's a bit of an unfortunate image. On the Pdox forums I found the following

Either Oman got flooded some point in te past or that's an island chain.
EDIT: or the province actually says Maldives.

If these are real images, I'm a bit disappointed by how big the Maldives are. I understand they would have to enlarge them somewhat, but they should be way smaller.

That looks a lot more like someone took part of the Lesser Sunda Islands, rotated them 90 degrees, and plopped them in the northwest Indian Ocean, than the Maldives.

:D

I also just noticed that this CK2 DLC will apparently be adapting the Ramayana, because there's a land bridge connecting the mainland to Sri Lanka.

Isn't that just a bunch of islands with bridges?

Today I learned there was a land-bridge there. Wish some of the WW2 games I've played modeled that somehow.

In other news, Basil Makedon's son Pyrros has resurrected the Roman Empire.

But only if that land bridge can be composed entirely of monkeys.

Thats fun! :D

Yes. If paradox does not let me play as Sugriva and his monkey kingdom I will be rather disappointed.

Someone is going to make a mod.
Probably.
Actually pretty sure. It's one of those unspoken rules of paradox games. If it can be modded it is going to be modded.
