Crusader Kings 2

Movies set in the 20th century generally make me immediately regret my decision to watch them.

Okay, Wolf of Wall Street is set in the 90s, but you're right, the others are in the 2000s.

I should've said "Generally speaking, anything between VJ-Day and 20 Minutes Into the Future can bite me."

I love this game.

I just got ToG (yeah, I'm behind on my DLC). I started as the Magyar and quickly formed Hungary.

I then took the territory of the Kingdom of Wallachia and then (on my second ruler) formed the Carpathian Empire!

I also took a concubine and converted to Orthodoxy so as to buddy up with Byzantines. I am working on worming an heir into the line of succession for the throne in Constantinople, but we'll see...

In the meantime I have made two small tactical errors.... 1) I accidently married an un-landed son to a landed lady off in the Baltic someplace. The problem is that he wasn't around when we all converted to Orthodoxy. He now refuses to convert. 2) I neglected to change my succession laws to something other than gavelkind after my religious conversion and I'm getting old and have two sons, the older of whom is still an unreformed pagan...

It's going to get interesting.

Did I mention that I love this game? :king:

Inexcusable. Murder him.

Inexcusable. Murder him.

Fortunately, I didn't have to!

I played the save a bit more last night. Almost immediately after I un-paused the game, my ruler died. He was old and I knew it was going to happen soon but that was fast.

Fortunately, I had anticipated my gavelkind problem very well and my main heir inherited the Empire, Kingdom of Hungary, and capital County titles. My only other son got the Kingdom of Wallachia title and a county or two. Fortunately, my first ruler's stewardship score was rather low and I had to be diligent about handing out the fruits of my conquests on a regular basis - that really made the gavelkind succession more manageable.

So my eldest, pagan son becomes king. Surprisingly, not everyone hates his guts... just half of them do. A few bribes, a couple of provoked rebellions and I'm on my way back in the green. Luckily, I took a captive from one of my less compliant dukes and made her my concubine - she was Orthodox and I was able to convert myself in short order.

I'm really glad that happened because my current ruler's brother has HORRIBLE stats and traits.

Of course, now my brother has a claim on the Kingdom of Hungary and the Carpathian Empire. He will have to be dealt with.

In the meanwhile, I am counting the days until I have ruled long enough to change my succession laws to something less chaotic than gavelkind. Any recommendations?
