I haven't played Civ 4 in a few weeks (I recently purchased KotOR2).
Today I started playing Civ 4 again, but I was crashing a lot. On a lark, I completely reinstalled the game, and this time I only used the mods that I figured were absolutely necessary (Blue Marble Terrain and Homegrown's Clock mod). Now the crashing is even worse. I now crash while creating a new game. I get through all the steps of creating a single player game, then I get to the part where I get to watch a progress meter creep across the screen.
As soon as it gets to "setup map," I crash to the desktop. Changing game settings did not make a difference. Clearing the cache did not make a difference. I am using the latest audio and video drivers. My mobo drivers are somewhat old, but that hasn't been a problem before.
This is kind of freaking me out. Civ 4 ran just fine for me since the game's release. This is the first time I've had a serious problem like this.
Can anyone offer any solutions here?
