Having completed two Cultural Victory Challenges, I now plan to embark on my third one. One change will be that I will move up to Prince level for this. I'm thinking I'll stick with Hemispheres again and hope for the best that I actually get two continents when I select it.

But with that in mind, I figured I'd hear from those who have been following the challenges to decide which leader I'll go with.

I've already used Zara Yaqob and Gandhi. The next leaders to consider would be the following:

* Louis XIV: The Industrial trait obviously suggests a Wonder grab, but toss in the Creative trait and you get cheap Libraries and Theatres, and that +2 culture per turn is gravy on top. An interesting aspect of Louie, though, is the special building... the Salon comes along in the midgame, but the free Artist certainly has possibilities when it comes to pursuing a Cultural victory.

* Pericles: The Philosophical-Creative combination has always been popular for Specialist economies, but I've found that combo also works well for Cultural wins... I modified the Specialist economy a bit by using Artists and having more cities do cottages, and it was pretty solid. But more importantly, the Greek unique building is really useful for Cultural victories... the Odeon is by far a better version of the Colosseum, what with the added culture and the ability to turn additional citizens into Artists. With Pericles, it may not be necessary to run Caste System, but just tech to Drama and get those Odeons up and running alongside the Theatres.

* Huayna Cupac: The Financial trait is always useful, and the Industrious trait is the same as it is with Louie. And since Huayna starts with Mysticism, pursuing an early religion is viable. Plus there's the Terrace... a Granary that generates Culture! Obviously, the strategy would suggest whipping out culture-generating buildings frequently, along with getting the occasional Wonder.

There are a few other leaders who might be suitable candidates, but I think these three would be the top three to consider. Unless somebody has another suggestion to offer for a potential leader.

So let's hear from the floor. :)

Those are good choices, particularly Huayna Capac.

But don't overlook Ramesses: Industrious plus spiritual is a powerful combo with pyramids and shedwegon paya for civics-switching throughout the game.

Also, Elizabeth, with philosophical and financial is not too bad for a cultural victory.

All in all, though, industrious is the key trait for cultural victory.

(My personal favorite cultural victory was with Qin, though. Although his traits are really that great, his UB is awesome!)

Do some Chinese guy!

I think that a spiritual and a philosophical leader (Gandhi?) is best suited for cultural victories. Rather than wonderspam you can found religions and build temples and those buildings that grant the city +50% culture points.

edit. whoops sorry you've already used Gandhi. I'd pick industrious and philosophical leader (don't remember which is it) and go for the wonderspam with a GA factory.

Louis: Great for rexing, salons are major but bad for religions (confuciasm propably the first)

Ramsess: Does not start with mysticism so you are going to miss out on the early religions however powerfull combo

Huayna: Good start with financial so bound to get early religion, cottage culture works well, ind for wonders and quecha for fast conquest. One of the nicest culture leaders.

Since I haven't got BtS I would vote for pericles. His traits are really juicy and the odeon is also a nice culture building with lots of hapiness.
