Is there any logic behind it? I made this nifty list, but... I don't see it. Why do some wonders give 10 culture, and others none? That all corporations only give 2 seems logical, but then, why are there wonders with even less culture (0), and what are the Great Wall (sole actual wonder with 2) and Cristo Redentor (sole wonder with 5) doing? Was this just all assigned at random...? Sidenote; Versailles could be wrong, as I may have changed it.

Hello.

I don't know the reason behind the assigned values, unfortunately.

My comments:

Versailles gives normally +10 :culture:.

When it comes to Rock N Roll, Broadway and Hollywood, they actually give you +50% culture, which I doubt will amount to zero that late in the game in most of your cities.

While The Statue of Liberty gives +6 :culture:, it also has the potential to give a lot more. +1 Free Specialist in each city on the continent, combined with The Sistine Chapel's +2 :culture: per Specialist, makes it a lot more...

Some corporations also give :culture: based on available resources. Civilized Jewellers and Creative Constructions... and Sid's Sushi, if I'm not mistaken.

These things should be included in the equation when discussing culture-output of Wonders...

Yours Sincerely
Kjotleik of Norway :)

Thank you for Versailles, I had forgotten that.

I know about all those other modifiers, but I decided to exclude them because they're dependent on other factors. Certainly, if you count the Statue of Liberty for its specialists, you should count Stonehenge for its Monument, all wonders that give free cultural specialists, possibly also wonders that allow another cultural specialist... I found it better to ignore such factors in making that list.

I've just finished modifying it, and as of now, my mod is using the following. Unsure if it's good or anything, but at least there's a smidgen of logic behind it:

Spoiler :
Ignore the /'s. :p

2 culture; all corporations, and wonders completely unrelated to culture ('sides, they are the three most recent wonders):

/The Three Gorges Dam
/The Space Elevator
/The Pentagon
/Standard Ethanol
/Sid's Sushi Co
/Mining Inc
/Creative Constructions
/Civilized Jewellers Inc
/Cereal Mills
/Aluminum Co

4 culture; shrines (very tempted to move them to 6 or even 8 culture though), and wonders created after approximately 1000 AD:

/The Apostolic Palace
/The United Nations
/The Temple of Solomon
/The Mashid al-Haram
/The Mahabodhi
/The Kong Miao
/The Kashi Vishwanath
/The Dai Miao
/The Church of The Nativity
/The Eiffel Tower
/The Statue of Liberty
/Arc de Triomphe
/The Kremlin
/Lubyanka
/Cristo Redentor
/University of Sankore
/Copernicus' Observatory
/Machu Picchu
/Angkor Wat
/The Spiral Minaret
/Borobudur

6 culture; all those shiny ancient wonders that should give quite a bit of culture:

/Moai Statues
/The Pyramids
/The Hanging Gardens
/The Great Lighthouse
/The Colossus
/Chichen Itza
/The Temple of Artemis
/The Oracle
/The Hagia Sophia
/Stonehenge
/Shwedagon Paya
/The Statue of Zeus
/Mausoleum of Mausollos
/The Parthenon
/The Great Library
/The Great Wall

8 culture; chosen rather arbitrarily, I admit:

The three +50% culture wonders because, well, the whole world is influenced by them every single moment currently.

The Sistine Chapel because it's a very culture-oriented building. For some reason, I also associate that with the Notre Dame (probably because of Civilization V, come to think of it), the Taj Mahal (jewel of the Mughals and so forth), and Saint Basil's Cathedral (started a whole new art style, so to say, but I suppose this could be true for other wonders as well... Mhm-hm...). Versailles is here because, for one, it fits, and for two, a Palace gives four culture, so Versailles giving double of that seems to be fitting.

/The Sistine Chapel
/Notre Dame
/Saint Basil's Cathedral
/The Taj Mahal
/Broadway
/Rock N Roll
/Hollywood
/Versailles

Overall, the culture is intentionally a bit lower than in standard Beyond the Sword.

I don't see any reason to change the values. The cultural output is only a side effect anyway, and the main effects are also often rather arbitrary. The effect you are aiming for with less culture for later wonders is already built into the game. All buildings double their culture output after 1000 years.

The only really noticeable effect of those changes is that they slightly slow down cultural victories, as the wonders that generate Great Artist points no longer give +10 culture. A lot of people are already complaining that cultural victories are boring. Making those games last longer is hardly a desirable goal.
