:o sorry, I'll just ask another question. I just wanted to hear the guy was seriously injured and actually wasn't fit enough to lead such a game.

What was Bergkamp's squad number at the WC '98?

    a. 10
    b. 9
    c. 8

Yes! He shoots he scores! Cashback! and so on.

    My Question;

Which two teams contested the first World Cup final? Who won? And what was the score?

In the first european championship, one team refused to play against another one for political reasons. Which team was it? Name the opponent too.

Franco's Spain refused to play against the Soviet Union.
The USSR later won the title.

    Speaking of the European Championships:

Despite the English stereotype about penalty shootouts Germany is the only team (so far) to have lost a Euro final on penalties. Who missed the decisive penalty and when?

Hmm - I think it was aganst Czechoslovakia. I remember the winning pen was a slow chip straight down the middle while the keeper dived away. First time I'd ever seen that done - and to do it to win the final - just breathtaking.

Who missed the decisive penalty - no idea

    Maybe Jurgen Klinsmann ?

Czechslovakia in 1972!! Oh, that wasn't the question...

Franz Bekenbaur maybe? Gerd Moller? Those are the only two German players I know from that era.

lol. The final was in 1976 against Czechoslovakia, I don't think the twelve year old Klinsmann was already fit for the national team. :p :D

The player who missed it was Uli Höness. The one who scored the goal you described was Panenka. In recent years several players have tried to do the same. Djalminha for example does it often.

it's known as the Panenka-penalty, so no doubt it was a great one ;) I don't shoot em like that myself though, don't have the skills.

Hmm... You once asked a question about that in the older thread, didn't you?

In which world cup did Mathias Sindelar play, and for wich team? What was his tragic fate?
