Current (SVN) development discussion thread

Can you elaborate what you did with the generic names? Also, which vassal name did you choose?

In Portugal, I added
Spoiler :
<TEXT>
<Tag>TXT_KEY_CIV_PORTUGAL_VASSAL_GENERIC</Tag>
<English>Duchy of Leon</English>
</TEXT>

while in the python, in the selfGenericVassalNames category I added
Spoiler :
iPortugal : "TXT_KEY_CIV_PORTUGAL_VASSAL_GENERIC",

Oh, generic vassal names are stuff like Spain's "Viceroyalty of <civ>" or England's "Dominion of <civ>" that come into play as soon as there is no specific vassal name. Look under specific vassal names, in the subdictionary that starts with iMoors, and then add an iPortugal entry with your text key there (the naming convention would be TXT_KEY_PORTUGAL_MOORISH_VASSAL).

Game crashes as France when I conquer Chichen Itza.
(I haven't updated the SVN for a long time because I'm working on my leader modmodmod)

Ah so I see. So I could add TXT_KEY_MOORS_GENERIC_VASSAL and then add "Emirate of #" and then all countries the Moors vassalize would be an Emirate?

Which files did you edit? It's possible to update the mod without problems, even if Leoreth changed the same files as you did. As long as you don't edit the same part/lines, it should be fine. (with the exception of the CvGameCoreDLL) Only if both of you edit the same lines, it will cause some troubles, but those are easy to fix. Did it with my own modmodcomp.

And it's useful if you use revision 450 as a base. Then, your modmodcomp will be compatible for both SVN and v1.10.

Yes, except those for whom the Moors have a specific name.

It's probably got to do with a slave plantation ending up in no-man's-land. There's a fix here somewhere, don't know where though.

(Hey, this is Solzhenitsyn, decided to change my username)
Okay, I get how this works now. Would it be okay if I made a huge revamping of the vassal dynamic names with suggestions from the dynamic names thread + things I found out on my own? I do it, make a list of all the changes, show it to you, and you can say which ones you don't like.

The current download for v1.10 contains this fix.

Sure, go ahead, at least the new civs can easily use some additional names for the less than obvious combinations. However, even if I don't comment on everything in the dynamic names thread, I usually include the suggestions there that I find suitable.

I looked up the code and there's no way this should be disabled if you have Astronomy, and since nobody else confirmed this I thought the problem lies somewhere else. Anyone?

Well, as of the most recent SVN (updated yesterday), I'm not having this problem any more. No idea what was causing it, but it's now fixed for me! :)

Great :)

Quick question not really that important but as of the latest update is the Constantinople/Istanbul site supposed to have a unique name undr Russian control? I ask because the very first time I played as the Russians and relinquished it from the Barbarians it was automatically renamed Car'grad, but under my ownership on my current playthrough it just Konstantinoupolis. I was wondering whether this could be something to do with previous owners of the city etc.

I think some translations for the new names Konstantinoupolis and Kostantiniyye are missing.

SVN 450, got this error message straight after I dialled up an Arabian start:

Additional inquiry about Constantinople, is it supposed to flip to the Ottomans on spawn? That makes perfect sense to me and is what just happened in my current game. I just want to know whether it was an anomaly in my previous Russia attempt that the city was both named differently and did not flip to the Ottomans on spawn. My prior attempt was before the mod just stopped working for me, so I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case, after all the city should flip to them.

Sorry to bother you with these unimportant questions, I am just quite confused about the city atm.

Yes, AI Turkey flips Constantinople.

That song is located in the Golds of Old mod folder. Civ can't find it if you're playing DoC. Songs need to be in the Sounds\Soundtrack folder under RFC Dawn of Civilization, or Beyond the Sword, Warlords or Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete.

Alternatively, edit ~\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Complete\Beyond the Sword\Mods\RFC Dawn of Civilization\Assets\XML\GameInfo\CIV4ErasInfos.xml and remove the song from the Arabian playlist.

I think that the Viking/Norse core area should be shrunk a bit. You should not have stability penalties because the Russians built St. Petersburg...
