Current (SVN) development discussion thread

I explicitly said that I don't want Korea to have this ability while making the larger point that I don't want anyone to have this ability.

Guess how high the chances are that I'll make it someone's UP or a civic effect.

I can see that you don't like the idea of settling on food, but settling on luxury and strategic resources does happen for AI. Strategic gets full yield, luxury does not. Perhaps make luxury to behave as strategic resource, when one settles on it?

The code doesn't look at what type of resources they are. It looks what yields it produces. So every type of resource will provide full yield (except food).

Exactly.

Ok, lets move on to a different topic. Kind of. The Rice and fall of civilizations.

Farms on Rice give 1 less food than on Wheat and Corn. Why? It should be the other way around. Rice farming societies happen to produce higher population numbers, coincidentally. Not to credit Rice for it, but still...

And the second thing: some civs like Japan and Korea cannot have their Rice irrigated in meaningful way, city tile does not count as a Irrigated Farm and therefore will never pass the Irrigation effect to the adjacent Rice tile with a Farm. Can we somehow comment on this please?

It's almost not worth improving the various rice tiles in Japan for this reason. Apart from getting at least one rice for the +1 health benefit to all of your cities, I have sometimes cottaged over the other rice tiles.

Whatever makes Japan stronger, I support!

New commit, I originally only wanted to expand Rhye's city spawn mechanism to allow for forced spawns like Budapest's, but then I realized how horrible Rhye's implementation was so I completely rewrote it. Maybe it even gives some speed improvements in later eras where no cities spawn anymore but all checks were still carried out. I'm mentioning this so you can keep an eye out for missing spawns because I also changed the rules for them a bit.

Budapest still has to be added though.

There are still too many Chan Chans in South America (one has a hyphen, one doesn't).

Spoiler :

This was from the 3000BC scenario (obviously, I'm playing as Maya).

Chan+Chan+Chan+Chan

Four Chans.

Somebody had to point that out.

Anyway, Chan-Chan and Chan Chan are actually two different places, and this isn't exactly a region with an abundance of names, so I don't think renaming would be beneficial.

That would have to be one of the more ridiculous posts I've seen in a long time, given that neither of the Chan Chans in the screehshot are in southern Chile.

Of course it needs to be fixed.

The two corn resources on the north-west coast of South America are similarly impossible to irrigate.

I will fix the Chan Chan stuff. It's clearly a mistake introduced when I let it spawn without paying attention to its position in the CNM.

And yes, Hamburg only spawns if the HRE is AI controlled.

Thanks for bringing on this still unaddressed little issue again :goodjob:

Also, just in: Temple of Kukulkan stopped/refuses to provide any :culture: (+6 in Pedia)!

Is it just me, or were an improvements made to the Andes recently?

It is very nice to see in F8 which city is the largest while playing as Aztecs, for example. Can we also sweeten the pot and have an indicator that shows how large is the current largest city? Like, Largest city: London (16).
