Well, you'd struggle to fit a PCI-e video card in an AGP motherboard anyway! :D
Haha, yup. And from what I read, some of the manufacturers of nVidia's cards don't plan on making an AGP version. We'll see; maybe one of them will hear the masses and create one.

It sucks that Tigerdirect doesn't carry the NEC 3500A DVD burner - it's the best bang for the buck burner around. Also, if you can wait, get a new nForce4 board - then you can get whatever new video card you want :yeah:

Tigerdirect is supposedly not that great of a site....I got linked up with tons of good vendors, Canadian, at another site. Currently this is what I have:

ASUS K8N ATHLON64 S754 NFORCE3 250 DDR AGP 5PCI SATA SOUND LAN

http://www.ncix.com/products/i...Y&manufacture=ASUS

Looks pretty good: $127.01

SX600II PERFORMANCE SERIES II - *NO POWER SUPPLY* $57.90 Can. I am pretty sure this will be good enough, I dont really care about aesthetics.

http://www.vibecomputers.com/i...mp;if=n&vID=190894

I
do need a floppy, however:
1.44MB BLACK 3.5IN FLOPPY DRIVE: $10.43 Can.

http://www.ncix.com/products/i...;manufacture=Panasonic

Also, I guess I need a decent cd-dvd drive. Sound and networking are integrated in the motherboard in this post I selected.

I got the processor fromt his site, so might as well the mobo and get free Farcry. :P

I am pretty sure the price is American however..

This RAM looks pretty good. I want at least 512, if not 1 gig of RAM. 77.90

TRUEPOWER 430 WATT ATX12V POWER SUPPLY $100.34

Still cant find a Nvidia 6600 GT though (which is supposed to be very good for the price). Also, have no clue on cases for my gaming PC which I am trying to keep under $1000 or so Can.

I got this mobo for my athlong 64 3000, and its fantastic - jam-packed with features, and the quality is very good (including dolby 5.1 on-board sound). Again, its AGP though.

@Jeratain - I saw your comment about the 6600 not going AGP in antoher thread, but couldn't find any reference to it on the net. Do you have a link?

There is no official statement claiming that. nVidia doesn't make the cards to begin with, so it's obvious that they wont be releasing one. There was an email sent to Gigabyte (one of the manufacturers of nVidia cards) asking when the AGP version would be available, and their response to the person was something on the lines of: "Hello, there will be no AGP version of the 6600 GT."

Now, whether or not that was an official statement from Gigabyte is unknown. Even if Gigabyte doesn't release one, other manufacturers might. After all, nVidia has claimed in a few articles that they would release one. The question is when. We'll have to wait and see.

Now see.. I should have gone to you folks instead of Dell when I recently upgraded to a new system. One of you could have saved me a Bundle! :goodjob:

Ah well, at least I got a warranty and 24/7 helpline service. I really wanted to build my own system this time, but the technology has advanced so much more rapidly than my basic expertise it just wasn't an option.

I have to say though ~ compared to my last computer, this system seriously rocks. I paid too much, but I can't complain at all about performance.

@andvruss: If I upgraded today I'd buy the A8V motherboard you mentioned. It was appointed "best product" in a test in one of the major PC magazines here.

I have the Seagate harddrive (120 Gb, 8mb cache, ATA100) today, but if I bought a new one it would defintely be a SATA one.
