Never played always war option in custom game. Did any of you played this way - is it worth playing?

I thought it meant that everyone was at war free-for-all style, but turns out it's just that the player is on war with everyone. Basically it's just challenge option, like that only one city.

Won't you be slaughtered by War Weariness though?
Or is it removed in this option?

Geoff.

I played it once as Bismark - my scout encountered Ramesses who immediately declared war.

My capital was razed before I had even built my first warrior

It's only a challenge option. You have to research every single technology yourself, and you have to declare war on everyone (so you will bear the brunt of every civs attack. If you can do a continents start and take out an opponent early so you're isolated, you should be able to win fairly easily.

it's a nice exercise in conducting war. While it gets really tiresome after a while (I even tried to delay meeting other civs so not to add to my war-load), it helped me achieve my first domination victory.

For clarification purposes:

1. does it mean that I am automaticaly in war with each player I meet?
2. Are the AI players automaticaly in the war betweent themseves?

1. Whenever you meet a player you automatically declare war on them. If you get one of those peace option events, right after peace happens you declare war on them again.

2. The AI players are not at war between themselves, and after a while they get super chummy since they are all sharing the mutual struggle bonus.

You automatically declare War on all AIs you meet. If you gain peace somehow (Event etc.) you redeclare immediatly. There is no War Weariness for you.

I do not like such games, removes the diplomacy completely and gives the AI big relationship boni because of "common military struggle".
