The following are some advanced tips on how to customize your Fairy Tale mod to perhaps work better for you. Thanks to Ono-Neko for these.

    1. Change the Game font

To change the game font, of what is showing up in, for an example, the scoreboard, follow the instructions below. This will make the game font smaller.

    Spoiler :
Open the following file with a text editor: ...\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Fairy Tale\Resource\Themes\Civ4\Civ4Theme_Common.thm. Search for Tahoma, which is the font used by default in Fairy Tale. Replace all Tahoma with Sylfaen, which is the default font used in standard Civ4 games.

    2. Remove the Better Terrain

To remove the better Terrain and revert to Civilization vanilla terrain, follow these instructions. This operation might make the game faster on older computers.

    Spoiler :
You need to work a bit with the Fairy Tale/Assets/Art/Terrain folder. Just remove everything except the Routes folder and the Resources folder in there. In the Resources folder, remove everything but leave Crystal and Dragon Eggs in there, otherwise those won't show up in-game. Also, in the Routes folder, remove the River folder. This operation reverts the terrain foundations back to vanilla Civ.

You can actually change the font to *any* font you like, as long as your OS has that font. I played around a bit with it, and then settled with "Arial Narrow" font. That font is still big, but more compact horizontally.

Nice! I might change the font for the entire mod, actually. I need to play around with it myself.

If you do change the mod's font, you may want to add the .ttf file to \Fairy Tale\Resource\Fonts\ folder. I believe that's the location Civ4 will look for if it's not a common font (OS don't have it).
