i have the d2d version of civ 4. everything is working just fine but i agree that it does take up a lot of memory before the 1.52 patch came out. I find it such a relief that the new patch addressed this issues. The only problem is i cannot install the patch. I was able to download the one from the d2d website but I got an error message stating " The setup detected that version 1.00.000 of Sid Meier's Civilization 4 is already installed. This setup is not compatible with this version. You will have to uninstall the previous version before installing this version."

I tried uninstalling Civ but I get a new error message stating that I need Civ 4 to be installed to run the patch.

Sounds crazy huh. I need help. Thanks

You need to reinstall the full D2D version of Civ 4 first, then try to install the patch.

tried it same thing. I even tried to remove the registry entries for the game and I still get the same error. other methods i can try?

Look at this registry key:

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{CFBCE791-2D53-4FCE-B3FB-D6E01F4112E8}

I think that contains the version number that the installer is looking for. However, I don't know what the D2D entries should look like. Perhaps another D2D user can supply this information.

Another option is to delete this key (assuming that you didn't do so before) and then reinstall the full version again. That might recreate the proper registry entries.
