Doesn't the map mostly present the rich as voting for Hillary in this election? (honest question; i mean other than the massive rural areas it isn't readily clear to a foreigner)

"Cumulative county income" doesn't indicate any useful demographic. To a great extent that is just a population density map.

Had the same thought, but it may not matter that much. More densely populated areas are also often richer ones.

It doesn't specify people. What is true is that the higher income locations more often voted Hillary, not specifically the highest income people within those regions. This leads to some odd results from Trump's policies. For example, if that healthcare bill had passed, it would have transferred a trillion dollars from Trump voters to Hillary voters.

In general, it doesn't bother me too much. They're like transfer payments. You use them to help balance out poverty in your society.

Though I was in Nova Scotia when the Conservatives announced a large Navy project that could have gone to richer parts of the country instead. So, I noticed the redistributive benefit for people who wanna work, but just can't get money. In the end, you need money to get people out of poverty.
