The usual argument I gear is that old people would feel pressurised to take that option rather than spend their life's savings on living another few years.
I am 100% for assisted suicide, and 100% against the death penalty. I find it depressing that support for both seems essentially equal in the U.S. (since one involves the killing of the innocent and the other a personal choice to end your own life, which I believe should be in your own hands)
Percentage of homes affordable with the Median Income. Note that "median income" is not the national median, it's the median income of each city individually. I had to think about that for a second.
A lot of my coworkers have room mates and it never fails to surprise me. A lot of that is because they choose to live in the highest rent areas (by the beach) but housing prices are insane just about everywhere in LA county.
A supplemental graphic: The salary you need to buy a home (median-priced for its market) in your area. It doesn't say what the presumed down-payment is, 10% or 20%. There's also no definition provided of the area. Are these "metro areas"? Does "Washington DC", for example, include commuter-towns in Virginia and Maryland or is it just inside the city? No idea.
I would love to see Vancouver and Toronto on this map. In Toronto at least none of my friends can afford a house now. An average looking detached house will set you back a million or so. It's insane. I don't think you could get a house in Toronto on a $70,000 salary, you need 2 people making that much I'd think
