son of a female dog :aargh:
i am sick of my computer. just really, really sick of it. i do an average of 4 improper shut downs a DAY. 4! that's right! i have it freeze or screw up, and i turn it off, turn it right back on, wait for it to load, scan for errors, and start. THen i have to get my desktop straightened out again and close all the excess programs. I have to do that 4 times a day! It has nothing to do with spyware, although my comp is infected beyond belief because somehow i got all this crap from nowhere. it's rarely the number of backround programs, last time it happened i only had 4 open! it's amazing! i had the memory doubled and i still get crap about "low on rescources, close one of your programs"
i have a windows me. it just sucks. i can't afford a new XP laptop cause now a days there's no ways to make cash. my parents won't get me a new computer until I'm like 20 or something, because they think they can always fix it! (they can't, that's how screwed it is)
I swear to something i will SLIT BILL GATES THROAT if my computer screws with me again!!

btw, can anybody help?  [pissed] :aargh: :ar15:

Well, you could always run Linux. :mischief:

Of course, there are problems with running Civ3 in Linux, even using Cedega. But generally, I have been very happy since I last reformatted my HD and did NOT re-install WIndows. :)
aah yes linux. my father uses linux (and windows) and it's ok.
it's more of a programing system he says, but i like the games that come with it.
and then again ofcourse there are certain un-downloadable programs for linux and you can't play most pc games.

I don't get what's wrong with your computer... What's causing you to have to shut it down 4 times a day?

EDIT: Never mind(didn't read carefully)...

First of all, if you don't want to do Linux, then at least switch to Windows 2000, by far the most stable OS Microsoft has put out.

My computer sucks too. 128 Mb RAM, 15 gig harddrive, insanely slow internet connection at around 45 kB/sec.

Clearly this is the problem. ;)

Although, if you have nothing else, format and install windows from scratch. Formatting usually fixes things. :)

Windows ME is horrible. Never ever get it. I installed it when it came out and i had the same problem as LLXerxes but was so bugged you couldn't even work the darn computer. it also shut my sound card off and all that junk. Windows Me is extremely buggy and i say don't use it at all possible times. you should go to Win2k or WinXP which both are pretty stable and don't crash on me. haven't ever tried Linux so don't know about that

I have both WinXP and Win98 installed on this computer, and I have never had any problems. I know alot of people in my class that has the same problem, and I'll say the samething as my teacher said: Stop downloading abunch of crap off the internet.

You might not want to say that... Bill Gates has lots of money and can afford hitmen with his pocket change. :scan:
Or lawyers! He could sue your ass off!

Wow, an 11 year old wanting to kill Bill Gates.

Format your computer, update it, stop installing stuff you don't need, and be happy.

Despite Windows ME's flaws, it will still run relatively fine as long as you take care of it.

And you're certain of this how?

Lots of spyware installs itself in your registry files so you may not even realize it's sucking your resources up. I'd bet this is your main problem.

C'mon DoM, you know it's Bill Gates' fault and no one else's. Thinking that viruses or spyware would cause such problems is crazy talk! :crazyeye:

Microsoft just want to make things difficult for everyone. Its in their best interests to piss everyone off... ;)

I didn't know there -was- Civ for linux! I use linux for everything but video games, so if I could get Civ 3 for linux, I could format my windows partition in ext3. ;) Where do I find it?

Linux also has an older version of Civ2 or Civ 1 caled Free Civ

The only thing is the wipe clean and start afresh with another OS besides win ME. ME is the worst of the worst.
