A major theme of the Week will be the oppression of women in Islam. The photo accompanying this article, which shows a teenage girl buried before being stoned to death for alleged sexual offenses, will serve as the poster for the protest Week. The stoning took place in Iran.

There is some question whether the photo in the flyer for the event, shown above, actually depicts a real incident of stoning, or whether it’s a still picture from a Dutch film; Bob Owens has a post about the issue.

There’s no question at all, however, that stoning does take place in Iran and other Islamic countries.

Those darned Islamofascists. Controlling the Dutch film industry way back in '94 in order to trick the right wing blogospere in 2007. What will they think of next?
 
I don't like the idea of a terribly overly done event serving to represent a string of events which we have limited knowledge about
 
At least they offered a retraction. Something Time Magazine has yet to do in regards to Haditha. Or Jack Murtha for that matter.

The original rightwing source that they linked to did not offer a retraction. They just deleted the photo without explanation.
 
Well that's certainly intellectually dishonest, and lacking in journalistic integrity that conservatives should be upholding.
 
I remember using the good old "fake but accurate" angle one drunken night. I think I quoted rapture.com :blush:
