Ill make it short... i need an intermediate unit between a privateer and a battleship. im making a chain between them, but its too far apart and i need a middle unit that connects them. ill be grateful if ya help me

yes, but im using it on the frigate - ironclad - destroyer - aegis cruiser chain... what can i do there?

Well an ironclad really is the only natural link between wooden sail ships and more modern ships. Although perhaps a wooden steamship could be used, or even better IMO, an iron-clad along the lines of the CSS Virginia (Merrimack). That is, a former frigate-type ship clad in an iron outer hull, and having side cannons and a battering ram attached to the front. This would make an interesting unit!
