I mean, transplanting bear arms does seem a little on the fringe, medically-speaking. So maybe it's we shouldn't and we currently do not (have the right) to.

    Sorry :D

I was going to look up the spelling, but bare arms would be about wearing short sleeved shirts, right?

Not exactly. There aren’t a lot of words that the dictionary goes into detail on the word’s controversy. At least it’s not something I’ve come across a lot and I do look up a lot of things. And it documents the use of a word, it doesn’t make a judgement on the correct usage, which in this case literally goes against the literal meaning of the word.

Who then does define correct usage? I believe that it is well established that use defines meaning in english, so that by definition there cannot be a difference between what a word is used to mean and the correct usage. It is a difficult thing to google, but this sort of agrees:

    Authority Without Authoritarianism
Change and variation are as natural in language as they are in other areas of human life and Merriam-Webster reference works must reflect that fact. By relying on citational evidence, we hope to keep our publications grounded in the details of current usage so they can calmly and dispassionately offer information about modern English. That way, our references can speak with authority without being authoritarian.

No, your use of "post" was fine; language is evolving all the time etc :mischief:
Besides, the thread is a "post", as a synekdoche.

What exactly are you "not buying"?

What exactly fails to support what I said, in matters of fact?

Nothing. You're just dissembling because you're unable to dismiss the Washington Post, "liberal" newspaper of reference that it is. So you misdirect. Your post lacks coherence, it's just denial without evidence. Try to think independently instead of slavishly following some group line when it does not make sense. If the group you believe yourself part of made a mistake, acknowledge it. Don't dig yourself deeper. If group members did that there would be an ability to self critique and correcting of course that would improve the group's political standing.

I answered and you pretend to ignore it. It proves that Rowling was right. Here point was that there are (here I will be crass and use my words because yous seem unable to grasp anything less than crass) "predators in skirts with penises" Who may attack women more easily if they get easy access to women's only spaces. This is the risk the invoked to start with.
This story is one undeniable example that the "predators in skirts" do exist. She didn't made that up. Therefore her argument merits engagement, even if you do it only to say that the risk is minute or relativize it. Not automatic dismissal, as it happened.

Then you are, as is usual with members of these "woke" groups, willfully blind when the truth is embarrassing to you group. The father was changed and arrested:

Police violence is bad except when it is against people you don't like huh? How very liberal in fact. The liberals of old were the ones who, like the "fathers of the constitution" there, talked a lot about freedom and owned slaves. It was always a ground that attracted hypocrites.

You mentioned Me Too. How does Me Too square with mocking and having the police beat up and drag out of a school meeting a father who wanted to tell how his daughter had been raped there?

It's been 5 years and you still cannot understand that it was the stinking hypocrisy of liberals that led to Trump winning an election against the embodiment of that liberal establishment? You just keep pretending not to see or forgetting the inconvenient truths. But other people see and remember. Santayana's quote applies.

In fact it gets even worse. This political group is the same that backs a former cop with a law&order agenda for NYC mayor. After last year supporting an "abolish the police" absurd meme. yeah I knowt, parties there are big coalitions etc etc. But blatant incoherence does not gain votes. The democrats were not yet wiped out because the republicans seem to be as bad, and both have a lock on mainstream media attention. I sometimes look at american politics as a bit fo consolation over european politics - we're not yet as as as you got. Yet. Oh but it's bad. It undermines the very idea of democracy, wanting people to choose between stinking options.

It's not liberals who beat up dad because they don't want to deal with the aftermath of a raped daughter. It's good old boys.

Can you not read? It clearly says 'B U R Y I N G'. Because you accused me of doing that, which is what I responded to.

Oh, I'm the one dissembling and misdirecting? You're the one who shared absolute garbage conspiracy nonsense and sources that didn't support what you were saying multiple times in the COVID thread. How about you take your own advice.

The Washington Post isn't Liberal. They are corporate Centrist down the line. What I said was reputable, since they are a paper of record, unlike the trash fire that is the Daily Mail.

So this is just brazen hysteria then. 50 years ago, you would be railing against integrated Bathrooms for white and Black people, because of some lurid story about white women getting raped by a Black guy.

You haven't provided a single piece of evidence to support the claim, that the reason the assaulter got into the Bathroom because they were trans or intersex or whatever. I don't know about you, but no Bathrooms I've ever seen, have a guard carrying out penis inspections. They were meeting to hook up, if the bathrooms were locked or under guard, they would have gone to an empty classroom. This was not an ambush, as your conservative rags tried to initially portray it, it's a date rape. Date Rapes are bad, but they are stopped by support for people to come forward, and institutions willing to listen, not by bathroom bigotry.

What I meant, Is that I saw no signs that the charges went anywhere. The Police arresting and charging you, doesn't always mean that it goes further. The cops on the ground, will nearly always charge someone who fights the cops, wrongly or rightly.

Man, you are getting hysterical. No, I didn't say 'yeah cops, crack his head on the pavement'. I said that is what happens. You struggle with cops, they arrest you. It's not like the special woke police were on call, these are just your typical cops, who probably voted for Trump and are leery of Trans people. As Farm Boy said, its the Good Old Boys.

Then you switch up straight to a broad attack on Liberalism itself. Lol. Of course, the reason you are doing so is that you lost the argument on this specific issue, and you know it. So you start dragging in broad, irrelevant screeds to justify your bigotry. You can't answer how Trans Bathroom bigotry bills would have stopped this date rape, because you know they can't.

I'm pretty sure the 'woke' brigade wasn't backing Eric Adams in the primary. Not sure how a New York City Mayoral Race, is relevant to a Virginia School Board. And the primary was a democratic election, with ranked-choice voting to elect a candidate. That's Democracy.

As Drakle pointed out, the incident involved two students who appeared to be in some sort of pre-existing relationship meeting up and it turning into a sexual assault; that is the furthest thing from the the scare-mongering about perverts crouched in a toilet stall waiting for someone to walk in so they could assault them.
To paraphrase the comedian Pete Davidson, there are no 'bathroom bouncers', if you are going to commit a sexual assault, you can just walk right into a bathroom. A sexual assault is still a sexual assault.

Inno, I'd ask you to take a long hard look at where your arguments take you and think if you like where you end up. I couldn't care less what your thoughts on 'SJWs' or 'professional diversity specialists' are, but it certainly seems to me you are letting your dislike of those types of groups turn into a bludgeon to beat on people who just want to poop in peace. (Would you likewise be calling for a ban on gay men using male bathrooms after a gay man sexually assaulted a straight man in a bathroom?)

Dave Chappelle brought this up asking the audience if they really wantend someone in a dress using the urinal next to them.

I don't want to pee next to anyone who cares what the person next to them at the urinal is wearing

And the answer? It does not happen very frequently, but when one does find oneself in a urinal with a woman it does not seem like a problem to me.

If the person wearing a dress is voluntarily in the men's bathroom, aren't they identifying as men by default? But I suppose the case he imagines is of a biological female that identifies as a man? (not sure how a biological female would be helped by a male urinal in the first place; they don't need to stand next to it to use the gadget you linked to; also, wearing a dress doesn't typically make you pass for a man).
Maybe he was imagining someone who identifies as female, and was biologically male (would make much more sense), but then the line would be against asking those people to use the male urinal.

At many gigs I go to the queue for the womens toilet is really long, and the mens sit down toilet is "appropriated" as an additional womans toilet. Women using the urinal is much rarer, but happens. I obviously do not look in such a way as to distinguish between a shewee user and a trans person but unless they are all really good at passing at least some are cis women.
