    Spoiler Curious Viking Voyage :

I used Ctrl Z to reveal map and observed very strange AI play: Viking Settler in Long ship went all the way to Ireland only to return back to Scandinavia, but in the meantime Vikings lost opportunity to settle and advance their civilization. Perhaps AI flags for Longships discourage them from unloading Settlers? Or settling values in Ireland are not high enough? Perhaps it would be better to have no Settlers in Longships and instead place one in Denmark (in this game Vikings did not even pop the good hut in Denmark!). 3 Settlers for 3 types of Vikings: Danish, Norwegian and Swedish...

Huh, I wonder if I deliberately left them with one starting Galley for this reason. I'll keep an eye on it.

Then what was 1.14, a wooden cart? :D I'm also looking forward to finally releasing this version.

Should be fixable in worldbuilder or python (for 3000 BC games) by setting the ships' AIs to SETTLER_SEA, as works with (but is still not implemented for) Polynesia.

Main issue with Polynesia from my testing back when I was a game balance noob was that they don't see value in settling worthless islands, and those islands are needed to get to Easter Island and Hawaii.

Also, I'm not sure but vaguely remember that the AI isn't prepared for relying on citizen specialists for production and there's no current feature for the Waka AI to switch from Settler Sea to Worker Sea, meaning that if they had a Waka but it was a "Settler Ship" they'd build a new one to build work boats.

That last paragraph is from some very hazy memories of assumptions I made while programming. So don't bet on it being accurate.

BABYLONIA!!! I'mma try it right now!

    Hey all,

I'm trying to play the game on steam on mac but I get a lot of xml initalization errors.
Do you know why this might be happening? I'd love to try out some of the new civilizations :)

Mods with custom DLLs can't be run on Mac. I don't know how to use Wine to run Steam due to recent changes to Steam. Looking in the Civ 4 Mac subforum might help you.

I'm sorry but the Babylonian UHV went from impossible to stupidly easy.

Build order was Babilu to Worker to Granary to Whipped Edubba to Ziggurat to Oracle free Calendar and Arithmetics and Anarchy for Deification and Redistribution to Anarchy for Monarchy and Bowmen until happy to Ishtar Gate
Tech order was Mining free Masonry to Mythology free Property and Anarchy for Despotism and Slavery to Ceremony free Writing to Sailing free Divination to Tanning free Leverage to Smelting to Construction to Contract

After that setup I'd win as long as I kept bringing out Bowmen for Happiness and made sure to prioritize food when I'm on an odd pop and 1 away from unhappiness (sometimes cities avoid food because they don't seem to take the even pop Monarchy happiness into account)

IMO the tech goal has the perfect difficulty, but when it comes to Population and Culture I got the Golden age in every Babylonia game I've played recently. You'd have to actively avoid wonders and growth to lose. Babilu has a pop of 12 in this latest game, and the closest other nations got was India and China's 7. India, China, Greece, and Egypt all also had a 6 pop city. Babylonia's UHV is pretty quick and doesn't really affect other players, so I'll run a bunch of autoplays to see if this is a trend.

I'd like to ask why the Oracle is in the second tech row. It's constantly getting snatched by AI Babylonia to the point that it had to be removed from the Greek UHV, and it dates to either 1400 or the 800s according to PBS and Ancient.eu, respectively yet even AI Babylonia is building it before the Greeks spawn in 1600. Egypt generally won't stand a threat in building the Oracle as it's stands, it's pretty much a free wonder.

The Hanging Gardens don't seem to be of very high priority of other AI. I've been playing a bunch of Babylonia recently to try and win the Islamic UHV as them and I'm often amazed at how late the Hanging Gardens are built. Again, this will need to be looked into further and I don't feel like playing through a bunch of games as Babylonia to document when other nations build the Hanging Gardens when the player is the Babs.

Also, as it stands the Babylonian UHV relies on building the Oracle. Is this supposed to represent something?

Attached is the autosave on the last turn and some relevent screenshots.

P.S. It's pretty cool looking back at my history on the RFC forum and seeing how I've developed in my understanding of the game.

I propose that Marble be removed from Babylon. As far as I know none of the real life Wonders built there were constructed with marble.
Also I feel that Babylon has too much hammer output, and I think that by removing the marble it can be balanced out.

What about the Hanging Gardens? It's unsure if it even existed in Babylon, but it's in the game. Removing the marble will also weaken Baghdad in the 600 AD scenario.

I propose that the Oracle should have a requirement of a peak in the city radius. That will stop Babylon from building it, but not Egypt...

At the onset of Confederation in 1867 Canada was boasting the fourth largest Merchant Marine in the world, and deriving the majority of its foreign capital through maritime trading. Adding the fact that Canada was one of the great shipbuilding and ship-owning countries of the world from the get go it is upsetting to see French Galleons being expelled from Montreal rather than flipping to the new Canadian nation. I mean USA gets 4 ships from mod designer but Canada denied even "lucky" ships that happen to be anchored in Montreal. Please don't punish Canada and Royal Canadian Navy! (I don't really care about expelled French ground units but honestly this is a bad mechanics, units already present on flip territory need to flip to the new owner and not wonder in Canadian wilderness with no aim and city to protect).

Dude why can't you just say that Canada lacks starting ships instead of always writing these overly dramatic and semi accusatory diatribes?

Any thoughts on what is stronger, +100% GP birth rate or +1 free specialist? I am considering to switch the Democracy and Constitution effects.

If I were to go on feeling alone, increased birth rate. Specialists are primarily important for their GPP, and +100% GPP is insanely powerful, especially in the late game where many cities are already developed. If we were talking about early game +1 free specialist per city, or even in the core, is super strong as most cities are still working on infrastructure and getting enough population to work their best tiles.

Is Isolationism worth using? I saw that a recent update gives it +50% espionage in capital but I always see a significant boost in my economy when I switch out of it.
