the program refers to civ4beyondbeyondsword.exe. i guess that steam puts it in its own map, so the program you wrote cannot find it. is there a solution to this problem?

Have you checked your task manager if there is a running process for Civ4BeyondtheSword?

I can't see a clear solution for this but it annoys me when I play as Turks I constantly need to fight&peace Chinese, but when I sign peace my units are transferred to Tibet. Since I just recently waged a war I cannot sign open borders with Chinese and my units become locked in there.

At least this case is kind of managable since I can decide when to sign the treaty. But this also happens when some cities secede from China, and my units that are pillaging eastern China get transferred to Tibet. For Turkish player this means losing many horse archers to Chinese regular units since you can't use open terrains near Xian.

I also once saw some large French army getting trapped in Tibet as well, which caused them to lose war against Prussians.

OT, but this sounds like the starting situation for a kick-ass pulp adventure novel:

In the 1870s, a French colonial force attempts to cross Tibet in order to surprise a Prussian garrison at Macau, only to get caught and trapped in a secret valley ruled by the thousands-year-old warrior-priest exile from Hyperborea. Their appearance moves him to reanimate the corpses of the million-strong Atlantean army he had been leading in the conquest of Asia, and the desperate French commander must sacrifice his entire force to stop them from breaking out of the Tibetan fastness and menacing the world with their occult technologies. The French succeed, but at the cost of losing their chance to surprise the Prussians in an operation that could have turned the tide of the Franco-Prussian War.

You first have to write the comic book for this before you can make it a movie.

Here is something fun for you to try. If you order a city razed but then have a Great Artist create a great work the city will be instantly set to 0 pop and not be razed.

If you instead use a Great Statesman to resolve a crisis(negating anarchy and unrest in all cities) the city will also be set to 0 pop but unlike with the artist will be razed the following turn.

Can you report that as a bug? Preferably with a save that has everything to execute this?

The double specialist slots for Korea unique power is really begging to be abused with a Republic mega city, and you very conveniently have a spot with six food resources in your Core to back it up.

    Spoiler :

    10/10 would break again.

Of course the next turn I learned I messed up mightily as contrary to my assumption Legendary culture doesn't give another National Wonder slot and without the happiness from National Theatre I can't take this beast much further. Well, unless I swallow my pride and set the culture slider all the way up. I still make 3500 beakers per turn on 0 % research.

What strategy did you use to survive the Mongols?

The one I usually use is raise an army to conquer Japan, don't expand into Shenyang until after the Mongols collapse, suck up to them, and don't let my army's strength falter.

I was best buds with them. Gifted them a technology right away and when they took a Chinese city paid a bit of money to have them convert to Buddhism.

But these only work if they don't declare war on you right away, don't they? They do that to me every time I play Korea. I thought it was an automatic thing ...

They declare war on you if they don't like you or think you're an easy target. It's not automatic, Korea is just one of the first nations they consider to declare war on.

Well, I did discover this morning that the Mongols don't always declare war on Korea, so I'm glad to have learned that.

But is there someplace in the code that describes what they take into account when declaring war?

Because in the game I started last night I stacked Pyongyang with a a dozen crossbowmen and heavy spearmen, and had half a dozen swordmen (from my Japan-conquering army) in reserve. The Mongols declared war instantly on spawning.

I reloaded a much earlier save of the same game this afternoon and ran it forward. I still had six swordmen, but I built no additional crossbowmen or spearmen, so I was sitting there with my drawers hanging open. Genghis offered peace on meeting me.

So does being "an easy target" really enter into the calculation?

I always thought the DOW on *spawn* was just a probability, at least based on my 600 AD Byzantine games and the Arabs. I'd assume the same for Mongols and Korea.

Still on the subject of Korea: Is it intended that you're forced to declare war on China, no matter the odds against you, in order to squeeze a Confucian scholar out of a Confucian city? Or are you supposed to just hope that Confucianism spreads to Korea on its own? In either case, the Korean UHV seems to depend too much upon luck, either the luck of play before you spawn or the luck of religion spread afterward.

EDIT: Okay, yes, I'm frustrated. Try to make this constructive: Could Korea spawn with both a Buddhist and Confucian missionary? Could Confucianism spread automatically to one of Korea's cities within a certain range of years? IIRC, isn't there's a mechanic in RFC Classical World that lets you send a blank missionary unit into another civilization and convert it into a missionary of one of the religions? Maybe a mechanic like that if it's thought the player should have agency and initiative?

Confucianism used to spread quite reliably to Korea if you open borders with China, but that was before the new religious spread rules came into play. But still Confucianism should spread very easily there.

I will try a few more games then. It hadn’t spread by turn 225, which I found alarming as I needed that cathedral by 240
