I've been planning to do some sort of story LP and seeing as my Latin AP is in a few days, so in procrastination, I have started this story :)

Just for fun, the text involving the story will be purple and Latin words will be italicized. :)

Here is the set up:

I've also used a mod that lets your starting warrior be a scout instead. Other than that, its G&K.

A small nomadic tribe was at last ready to found their first city and become an agrarian society. They found themselves at the food of a great mountain in a beautiful forest filled with truffles and deer, but when their elders consulted the augeries, they decided to move south, so that their city might border the great mountains in the distance.

Rome's very first scouting party was sent north to explore the lands beyond their woods and all of Rome's resources were spent to create another scouting party to send out. Those who were not help ready the scouting unit were experimenting with what would become pottery.

Their scouts sent reports back to Rome. They discovered numerous ruins filled with the remnants of ancient cultures and found an awe-inspiring mountain, called Mt. Kailash to the far north and even sent back manuscripts detailing the construction of bows and the skilled art of archery. The second scouting unit was ready to go out into the world and the citizens then began working on a monument to commemorate the bright future of their people.

Far north, the scouts met with the scouts of another great civilization, called Byzantium and the second scout met with the small providence of Hanoi. They were greeted with lavish gifts from the providence that were subsequently sent back to the capitol. Rome was nearly a lifetime away from completing their great obelisk that would tower over all their people upon completion.

The first scouting unit that had been sent north discovered readily usable bows and armed themselves to destroy a barbarian encampment north of Rome that was beginning to unsettle the patricians of Rome.

The second scouting unit discovered another providence, Brussels. THey had already met another civilization and were not as impressed by the Romans as Hanoi had been. Nevertheless, the gifts were returned proudly to Rome.

The monument was finished 500 years after the founding of Rome. Proud, the people set about constructing a shrine so that they might be able to worship their Penates.

The first scouting unit, now archers, were able to defeat one of the barbarian armies and were hailed primi sagitariii in Rome after their great victory. The civilization, called Celts, were discovered in the east (the Senatus believed that they had met Brussels first.

Roman plebians were elated to learn that the primi sagitarii had destroyed the last of the barbarians living in the encampment to the north to the north just years before the completion of their shrine. They claimed it was a sign from the gods that all these good events were occuring so close together.

Post-AP update :) Hopefully people are finding this vaguely interesting? Maybe not. I was originally planning only to war with the other countries in the order in which it occurred in real life (Carthage, Persia, Greece, et ceteri) but as you'll find out, that didn't go so well. I think I'm going to try and write more text...maybe not?

Also, I'm aware that I've awkwardly left out a couple of events (meeting the Greeks, founding a pantheon). In sum, Alexander doesn't like me and I took Messenger of the Gods.

The Byzantines asked for a declaration of friendship, which the Senatus eagerly accepted. True friends were hard to come by and long friendships were certainly more stable than newer ones. The second archer unit was sent south to help destroy an encampment that the citizens of Hanoi wished to see destroyed while a settler was sent to form Rome's second city--a great step forward.

The citizens of Hanoi were pleased enough by the Romans that they promised to sent units as often as they could and were willing to fight on behalf of the Romans should Rome be attacked.

Soon, Brussels became uneasy with another encampment and the primi sagitarii and the dextri sagitarii were sent to destroy them.

The settlement of Antium, the wise Senatus recognized a jealous glimmer of envy in Boudicca's eye. Knowing that the Celts were famed for their aggression, Rome set about preparing for an eminent war.

Up north, the second scouting unit discovered a great volcano known as the Krakatoa.

Meanwhile, Rome was a few years out from completing the greatest library the world had ever seen up until that point. It was called the Great Library (the Senatus was pleased with their clever name) and Antium was almost done with their own monument.
Spoiler :

Way up north, the second scouting unit was able to defeat a weakened barbarian army and take control of a Byzantine settler who were subsequently sent under the yoke (i.e. sent into slavery) and began a long journey back to work the Roman fields.
Spoiler :

The scouts were also able to loot an already-abandoned encampment and gain measurable influence with a local city-state, Antwerp. Meanwhile back in Rome, they were almost finished with their Great Library much to the delight of the plebians and also those of Brussels, whose citizens wanted to be wowed by such a wonder. A great surplus of iron was also discovered in some nearby hills. Production in Rome was put towards a barracks to train more experienced soldiers to prepare for a war with the Celts.
Spoiler :

All was quiet for many years. Production continued. The Byzantine slaves returned home. Life was peaceful. That was until one day a band of warriors were sent to stand guard over another hill closer to the Celtic capitol, Edinburgh to see two Celtic warriors and a Great General, Robert E. Lee, approaching from Edinburgh. The Senatus sent out a decree: prepare for an attack. The primi sagitarii, who had been explored the lands of the west, were summoned to return home.
Spoiler :

More Celtic units were spotted and the warriors was called back so that they might be trained to function as a proper legion against the incoming Celts. The declaration came, though not to anyone's surprise.

The prima legio managed to destroy two bands of Celtic warriors with the help of archers garrisoned in Antium and from the city's defenses. Unfortunately, the brave men of the first legion were shortly killed, having strayed too far from the safety of Roman territory.
Spoiler :

After all of the Celtic melee units were destroyed, the archers began to retreat. The sacrifice of the prima legio had not been in vain.

Another update :) Yay! This update covers about 300 years and about 100 turns mostly because I became a little too involved with the game and forgot to take screenshots at interesting moments. Hope somebody is enjoying this :) Comments/feedback are certainly welcome.

The Celts offered their gold in return for a peace treaty. The Senatus realized that they could build up their own resources with the Celts’ gold for vengeance. Thus, they decided to accept.

The military lined up on the outskirts of Celtic territory as preparation as more legiones and ballistas were build. By the looks of it, the Celts were preparing for another war as well.

Cumae, a recent settlement in the north desert, was aided with a great engineer (from the liberty finisher) to complete Petra, a beautiful palace carved from the rock face in the desert.

War was declared and the siege was going well. There were some losses, but the Senatus was determined to demonstrate the repercussions of declaring war on the Roman Empire. Many years after the siege of Edinburgh began, a great tactician, Montgomery, stepped forward and moved to the east to rally the troops, busy with the conquest of the east.

At last, Edinburgh fell to the Roman army. Having made their point, the Senatus offered a generous peace treaty. Although the army could easily trample the rest of the Celtic empire, the Senatus offered them peace to continue living quietly. The Celts did not view the treaty similarly.

The known world was peaceful for many years though tensions ran high. Rome was determined to expand and founded Neapolis just south of the Byzantine city, Nicaea. Taoism was founded in Antium and Ravenna was founded on the eastern coast, which not to the surprise of the Senatus elicited a response from the Celts. The Great Wall was constructed around Rome.

Happiness was vital for the massive expansion that the Senatus hoped for so they began the construction of what they called Nostra Mater (or Notre Dame, as it was called elsewhere) in Rome in hopes of bringing more happiness to the great empire. An attack on Greece was beginning to go underway as they were beginning to expand beyond their western peninsula. With the help of the legions, roads were built between the cities (which would later prove quite helpful). The connected cities generated more gold and stimulated trade and the economy, and for the Taoist cities, it brought science (messenger of the gods) and happiness (from meritocracy) knowing that their empire was united.

Another assault on the Celts became a reality when they settled Nantes. This prohibited the placement of a city location that the Senatus had been planning for many years. Units were stationed outside of Truro and the war began.
Spoiler :

Within a few years, Truro fell to the Roman sword. Nantes was set ablaze after thorough pillaging. Edinburgh was barely held by the Romans while Boudicca’s northern satellite cities easily fell to Roman trebuchets and long swords. Eventually, Dublin fell to Roman siege and the Celtic empire was merely a whimper in the past.

The conquest of the Celts led to public denouncements from both Alexander, which was not that surprising, and unfortunately Rome’s supposed ally, Theodora.

The Roman army was set up all along the borders of Alexander’s territory. He later approached us many years later and we were forced to go to war prematurely.
Spoiler :

The Byzantines also declared war when they had seen that Rome’s northern satellite cities were unguarded.

Argos and Knossos fell to the Roman empire the same year by the citizens of Arretium feared for their lives.

Arretium fell to the Byzantines but the Senatus assured their people that they would destroy the Theodora’s empire and liberate the Romans trapped in Byzantine territory. The army fighting on the Greek front were immediately called back to protect Neapolis and liberate Arretium. Alexander offered a generous treaty after the fall of Argos and Knossos. Since the Byzantine’s betrayal, the Senatus was more than happy to accept so that they could focus on Theodora’s empire.

Nicaea, Antioch and Constantinple fell but the empire was in revolt.

Soon Theodora was destroyed and Rome control the entire eastern half of the continent. The power of the Roman empire was outpaced by none.

Corinth was captured eventually and Athens fells quickly afterwards. During the war, Rome established contact with the Persians, who were more than willing to trade their resources and even buy many Roman goods.

The Romans hoped that the citizens of Quebec City would send capture Sparta but they never did. At last, Rome could wait no longer and put the Greeks citizens out of their pain.
Spoiler :

At last with the domination of the Roman continent, the Senatus decided to lay their ambitions aside. Their people were happy, innovative, faithful and cultured and the Senatus decided that conquest of their continent was enough.

Here's a brief update :)

The capitol of an ancient civilization known as the Hunnic civilization was discovered under the control of the Persians.
Spoiler :

Considering the lack of scientific advantages, the Senatus decided that they would be unable to continue this peaceful front and decided to set about building a navy.
Spoiler :

Although the Roman citizens were tired of warfare, the Senatus, after much depabe and dissent, adopted an autocratic policy, sealing the fate of Rome. Their ambition would bring them to send the world under their yoke or be destroyed altogether.

Athens was annexed and began constructing a navy. The army was ready and they launched for Egyptian shores not soon afterwards at Memphis, Egypt's largest port on the ocean. The Egyptian city fell quickly.
