Due to the fact that there arnt enough of you, and as so there isnt 1 of you always on at a time..I belive you should get more mods..yes more mods..double the size even if needed anything to have at least 1 always on at a time....currently there is a person going into every thread spamming links to websites that are obviously pornos or what have you.and people just make account after account doing this and there is no stopping them unless at least 1 Mod is on at a time

Actually you need an admin to delete the offending user.

ok, then I say double the admin/mod size or make it as big as needed to have at least 1 person who can delete accounts post and threads on at a time.

This seems like a topic for Site Feedback.

It's also highly amusing given that the moderating staff of OT was just increased by two persons within the last month.

It's bedtime in the important part of the world (America) so they're all in bed. :)

No one barly reads the site feedback however your right:)

Then they need to get mods/admins from all parts of the world to get 1 on at least at a time:)

Im in America thought oo BTW and im on haha

Moderator Action: Issue sorted. Within 25 minutes of the first post - that ain't too bad.

And instead of actually reporting the posts, it was a much more important to create a thread about the lack of moderators dealing with the issue????

Please note: Just report the links. Those people who insist on posting witty retorts to porn bots like that just cause problems. If I could be sure that no-one had responded, I could
1.) search for all posts by users.
2.) Select all posts in one hit.
3.) Delete all posts.
All done in about 10 seconds.

But because of the witty retorts, I need to go an visit each post in turn to also delete the follow-ups.

Please, please, PLEASE: Just report post, and DON'T REPLY OR QUOTE THE POSTERS!

I'm somewhat disappointed that the number of people responding to the spam outnumbered the number of people reporting it. He made 20 posts, and only 4 people actually reported it. Thanks to those who did.

Since thread is reopned ill post my message that I sent to ainwood

Yes i felt it was important to make a thread as there where no mods on(at least in off topic, and not gonna search every forum to see if theres a mod on in any of em) so there was no way to contact anyone that I know of. Also it is not our job to have to report these people(not saying we shouldnt) it is however the job of the site admin to have enough moderators to keep the site flowing nicely, and that was the other point of that thread, not just that one guy was doing that one issue that one time, but this has occured in the past and has taken much longer to get it stopped, though I must admit it was stopped realtivly fast this time considering there where no mods in off topic on.

Since I now know your a invisible mod, please, tell me the point in you being invisible if not to confuse people and to think no Mods are online in turn leading to things like this because I had no idea a mod was online. Does anyone else think there is REALLY a point to having a mod be invisible?

I know that i was one who reported. Thanks for that. When I saw the thread was closed, I realised that action was taken and I was grateful. Now this is why I think mods and admins should not be invisible, so that way we can know to go to the relevant person as son as trouble appears, but since this was done quit quickly I was impressed.

Personally, I like the illusion of privacy of being in invisible mode.

Being visible isn't necessarily the answer: Just because I'm "here" doesn't necessarily mean that I am actively monintoring anything - I might be doing work, playing a game surfing another site. However, I do have reported posts going to a gmail notifier, and will see reported posts that way.

And if moderators are visible, and not here, then what are we to do anyway?

And if they are visible, how are you going to alert us? Via PM? => reported posts are faster, and we generally take them more seriously.

Finally, having some moderators invisible does, in my opinion, help keep people on their toes. We have had co-ordinated spam attacks on the site, and there is an argument that can be made that it would be easier for people to plan these attacks if they knew that all moderators were always visible.

Just report it; most of us look at all reported post reports anyways, so we'll hit them as soon as it's reported.

And even if we stay visible, it's no guarantee that we're actually reading the forums... :p Might just be one of the several windows we have on at any one time.

But you told me you can find out if your online or not by checking the whos online thing...so a co-ordinated attack people im sure would be smart enough to check that tab in all honesty:)

Except that they can't see invisible users.

That was in response to you saying that you didn't want to check every forum to see if a mod was on-line. I was trying to explain that you can quickly check for visible moderators using the forum main page who's online list, rather than check every forum.
