A boy got killed by flying debris that came off of a truck last week and CNN interviewed the owner of the event about the death. He talks about safety, protocol, etc. A week later, the same owner who was interviewed gets killed by a monster truck.

The interview and the owner are all in the video I linked.

So what do you guys think about all this? It's gotta be chilling for anyone superstitious because the owner even mentioned he wish he had a piece of wood to knock on before bragging about how safe the event has been for the past 16 years.

I heard about this on the radio. People have joked about the danger of these monster truck pulls for as long as I can remember but I'd never heard of an actual death.

(Was it a decent sounding announcer?)

To the OP- Shame, it always make you sit up and think how dangerous our daily life is. Driving, eating our processed food, even going to entertainment can be deadly.

I's not all that surprising to me, especially since it appears from this clip that the child was only 40 feet away from the track when it happened. If you notice in the video clip above, they had all the seats close to the trucks roped off and empty for safety reasons. Still, I bet pieces of assorted metal get much farther up in the stands at times since there is no fencing to keep them out.

The second death is not all that surprising either. You obviously have to be very careful where you walk when they are 'performing'. It sounds like a freak coincidence more than anything else.

Interesting premise, but he didn't seem terribly broken up by the whole thing during the interview.

The kid that got killed was in the grandstands, at least 20ft above the action.

These really just strike me as freak accidents.

It reminds me of that little girl that was kille by a puck to the head at an NHL game not long ago. Sad :(

Video doesn't show either deaths.. dissapointed.
