"Attorney General Paxton is using his position of authority to harass and intimidate Latino non-profit organizations like LULAC, Latino Leaders and LULAC members," Juan Proaño, LULAC's CEO told CBS News, calling the state AG's effort "point-blank" voter intimidation. "It is evident through his pattern of lawsuits, raids, searches, and seizures that he is trying to keep Latinos from voting."

Proaño said one of those targeted was Lidia Martinez, an 87-year-old who lives in San Antonio. Martinez has been a LULAC member for over 35 years and works to expand voter registration among seniors and veterans in South Texas.

She said that last Tuesday, there was a knock on her door in the morning, and she was greeted by nine officers in tactical gear and firearms who said they were executing a search warrant. Martinez was questioned for over three hours about her voter registration efforts in Texas.

Law enforcement seized Martinez's phone, computer, personal calendar, blank voter registration forms and her certificate to conduct voter registration, according to Martinez.

Pretty clear that the deep state has taken control of all levers of power in Texas and is wielding power in increasingly violent ways.

My questions are; in the face of increasing violence and intransigence, should the Justice Department be rapidly politicized and deployed to threaten those who would deny God fearing veterans their right to vote? Can anyone actually drain the Texas swamp? Should only Texas politicians get to enjoy the right to choose? Choose who votes? Discuss. And please make all responses as SERIOUS as possible.

Yeah, this is really distressing.

What does "God fearing" have to do with it? Let's not muddy this with religion. What they're doing must be unconstitutional (assuming she is eligible to vote and is registering other people who are eligible to vote), and is therefore illegal. Whatever laws can be used to stop this should be used.

You have to vote for the Democrats to save our democracy, but what are they gonna do to put a stop to this? nothing

Conservatives often make a point of saying that they are "God fearing" in order to make it clear that they understand that they have more to fear from God than liberals do.

This sounds more like a return to Jim Crow, although to be honest I don't think Texas ever really abandoned Jim Crow at least not fully. My experience and I assume most of the South is the same, is there is a de facto system of segregation in place. Also, another recent miscarriage of justice in Texas is the Governor pardoning a murderer (race related since it involved the BLM protests). Its pretty disgusting stuff for a pretty disgusting state.

Also, I don't get the Deep State reference, this is just an example of Texans in power emboldened by Trump and his claims of election fraud misusing the system to attack the opposition and the white minority using apartheid tactics to stay in power.
