Default Citizens: a few questions

So I noticed in the Editor that you can uncheck the default citizen box and give it a prerequisite tech and then check it back again. What happens if some civs don't have that tech. Has anyone tried this? I am pretty sure you can't have more than one default citizen as it only lets you check one box, but what would happen if the prereq was not know to the civ at the beginning of the game. Any ideas? I was just curious if anyone has messed around with this. I am wondering if that could lead to different default citizensif others were added with prereq techs known only to each civ.
