Defending another civ from barbs

Well, that sucks. Here I thought that if I single-handedly saved the Egyptians from rampaging barbarians, then I'd get the benefit for civilizing the barbs (+2000 food). Alas, I got nothing. And I lost two phalanxs in the process.

Yeah, you have to be in the same civ. Used to be, people would go JOIN the civ being attacked in order to properly exploit the Barbarians, but the diplomacy penalty that puts you on the Naughty Stair for hours discourages that pretty heavily, now.

OK, now suppose a small bully civ attacks a smaller defenseless civ. If I single-handedly defend the defenseless civ, do I get the era victory for winning a battle?

Nope. But you can attack them after, and take their stuff.

The defenseless civ will get the victory.
