Prussia at war with Neutral Alliance as Saxony is annexed!

Prussian forces annexe Saxony and capture Leipzig, including the magnificent Bach Cathedral, after talks stall with ministers from the Royal Duchy of Saxony.

Remnants of a Saxon infantry regiment are incorporated into the Prussian Army, as the Duke of Saxony is granted favourable peace terms, vassal status, and a lifetimes supply of bratwürst...

In the Baltic, the Prussian Navy sinks three vessels :) belonging to the Neutral Alliance deemed to have posed a threat to the port of Danzig, despite heavy damage to a Prussian frigate.

Prussia has signed a peace treaty with the Ottoman Turks, despite Turkish calls for Prussia to tear up it's treaty with France. This follows press reports from France that Alexandria has indeed been captured by French forces in Egypt. There were calls by the Turkish Foreign Minister for plundered works of art to be returned, including many unique items belonging to the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities (temporarily closed).

In a another development, Bavarian troops are rumoured to have been attacked by French forces west of Munich - the number of casualties is a yet unknown, and the fate of any captured Bavarian soldiers is a matter of concern. The Prinz of Bavaria, on a suprise visit to Wien, was visibly shaken by the news, though this reporter stresses that these reports are as yet unconfirmed.

Royal Navy Sweeps the Sea!!!

In a series of naval Battles the Royal Navy has all but destroyed the French Fleet. In the Battle of the Nile, the Mediterranean Fleet under Admiral Nelson has crushed the French Fleet protecting the Egyptian beachead.

Meanwhile, the Channel Fleet has simarly destroyed a French concentration outside Brest!

The Royal Navy has also proved victorious in a series of frigate actions with French ships off Spain.

The Wiener Tageskurier reports:

Wienna
Yesterday's grand Ball Gala a disaster, Bavarian Prinz leaves the the Capital with the night train. In a statement of the War Ministry it was confirmed that Austrian troops have begun with the encirclement of the Bavarian Capital. "We advise foreign powers not to interfere in matters that are essentially internal to the German Empire", was the only comment issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs....

Kairo
The Austrian Mission to Kairo has confirmed British newspapers' reports about a short, yet fierce naval encounter between French and British task forces in proximity to the Gulf of Alexandria. Turkish 'advisors' in the region were however reluctant to state if the clash has indeed resulted in such an overwhelming victory for Admiral Nelson....

Interview with the French minister of foreign affairs in La quotidienne Paris

"This month, French armies on all fronts have been victorious. First, in the English channel, they destroyed the English fleet positioned there, who had cowardly attacked our fleet in may.

On the central European Front, the Austrian encirclement of Münich has been broken. French troops now hold positions west of the city and wait for the signal to attack. The war has been declared against the neutral states, and thus the city of Toulouse has been fortified. Some Bavarian and Saxon troops join La Grande Armée.

In the West-Meditteranian, some English ships have been sunk by our glorious fleet. They hadn't managed to destroye only a single ship.

In the East-Meditteranian, CAIRO :egypt: has been taken, and yet another collection of valuable art pieces has been brought safely to the Louvre. One piece has been sold for 1250 oz. of gold to an anonymous Prussian noble.

However, the East-Meditteranian fleet has suffered heavy losses, after an attempt to destroye the English fleet there. Admiral Nelson still poses an enormous thread against the newly gained Egyptian vassals. A masterplan has been made to deal with that thread."

In further news, the French minister of defence confirmed that the city of Leipzig is firmly in Prussian hands. He stated that "he would rather have that Prussia annexed Saxony then the Austrians or the British..."

We would like to conclude this flash with a message that Napoleon knew to smuggle through the English line of defence:

"Fellow citizens,
Keep believing in the Revolution. With that power, we will win this war against the absolutism, against the English, against all enemies of France. Take up your arms and join our troops.

Vive La France, Vive La Révolution.
Liberté, Equalité, Fraternité."

It is reported that in a private communciation from Alexandria King Napoleon has expressed the wish to maintain peaceful relations with Prussia. Frederick Frunobulax III has replied that the Prussian peoples have no quarrel with France and wishes likewise to maintain peaceful relations at this time.

Ministerial talks are set to continue in Berlin at the newly opened Pret-A-Bratwürst Grand Cafe regarding the Austro-Prussian Alliance.

An invitation to King Frederick Frunobulax III to visit the Louvre as a guest of Marshall d'Etat, to see recently acquired Egyptian artifacts has been received, but reports that
"One piece has been sold for 1250 oz. of gold to an anonymous Prussian noble"
are not entirely correct: the buyer was in fact an anonymous Russian noble, though the deal was brokered via a Berlin Auction House.

In financial news, shares in the Leipzig-based 'McSchnitzels' restaurant chain have fallen sharply after gloomy financial forecasts in the Wiener Tageskurier.

In a previous message, about the Prussian noble, our journalist mistakely added a "p" before the word "russian noble".
The newspaper excuses for all misunderstandings that this message may have brought

Berlin Zeitung apologises to it's readers for the slight delay in bringing this weekends bulletin. This was partly due to difficulties with the Newspaper Delivery people being offline late last night and also boot-up problems with the printing press this morning - now resolved !

The Defence Minister reports that Prussian forces have reinforced Leipzig and have not encountered any forces of the Neutral Alliance. The Prussian Navy have had a quiet weekend...

The Foreign Minister notes that talks regarding the Austro-Prussian Alliance are set to continue today, with the official ratification due to takeplace in the next few days.

Our foreign correspondent in Alexandria notes that French forces have indeed taken Kairo, confirming reports yesterday from La quotidienne in Paris.

Royal Navy Victorious Again

In a series of hard fought battles, the Royal Navy has destroyed yet more French ships. In the Mediterranean three Ships of the line were sunk by the fleet headed by Admiral Nelson.
Meanwhile the Channel fleet destroyed another ship of the Line off Brest. While the Royal Navy's casualties were heavy, it is believed that Britain is now safe from invasion.

Diplomatic Feelers Put Out

Now that Britain is safe from invasion the Government is willing to enter into an alliance with anti-French continental powers.

"This month the glorious Royal-Imperial Army, lead by Archduke Karl has bravourously re-established the Austrian rule over Bavaria. Munich was taken without any losses as entire regiments turned their back on the conflict and joined our ranks. We are more than proud to announce that the Bavarian people are cheering at our involvement and the "free state" of Bavaria - and its ruling elite- will go greatly unhampered by our planned reforms. A cease fire has been signed with the rest of the German Principalities..."

"Driven by the magnificent success in the field of battle, similarly to the one of diplomacy the Kaiser has not only rejected recent Russian demands for support to its newly embraced war against the Ottoman Empire, yet dissolved the treaty for the time being.
The Press Minister announced in a memorandum on the changing of the European balance system, that "war shall be fought whenever necessary, (...) yet we need not naively tamper with the stability of Europe as a whole..."

"In a further bold move to establish a balance of power in Central Europe, high officials of the Prussian and Austrian foreign ministries have signed the new "Prusso-Austrian Alliance" which stretches from the Baltic Sea to the Mediterranean..."
The Alliance does, however not seek to to be seen as an aggressor, but is aimed at establishing a new forum for negociation within Europe!
The Kaiser has anounced his wish to hold peace talks with First Consul Napoleon, and voiced a list of desired initial points of discussion:

1. Cease of all hostilities between Austria and France as point of departure for further negociation
2. Return of imprisoned Bavarian citizens and military personel by part of France
3. Austria recognises French control over Southern Rhine area, including French claims for the province of Baden

Over breakfast this morning in Berlin the Prussian Foreign Minister was asked to comment on the British statement in the early editions of The Times newspaper:
Now that Britain is safe from invasion the Government is willing to enter into an alliance with anti-French continental powers.

He replied that "It is King Frederick Frunobulax's wish to remain on peaceful terms with France at this time. Any diplomatic approaches from Britain, though always welcome, would have to be carefully considered." Pressed further, he added that " It is very unlikely that an Alliance with Britain will occur at this time. We have our Alliance with Austria to consider first, not forgetting the current conflict we find ourselves in with the Northern German States."

Questioned over the capture of Munich by Austrian forces, and the re-establishment of Austrian rule in Bavaria, he noted that "We are very pleased that matters have been resolved swiftly in Bavaria."

After an enunciation by the Austrian newspaper, the Wiener Tageskurier, the French minister of foreign affairs was questionned about a possible peace with our Austrian neighbours.
Here's what he said:
"1) From now on, during the negotiations, there shall be a temporal cease fire.
2) Dunno why I should do that. (and how I can do it)
3) I recognise the fact that you took Münich and shall not give the order to attack. But we will take Frankfurt and Baden. OK?
The destiny of the other Reinbund cities needs to be discussed with our fellow emperor, and your ally, FF III.

French armies, west of Münich have withdrawn after seeing it was being conquered by the imperium Austria. Instead, they conquered Baden, but the prince escaped (or he was already killed by the Austrians while in Bavaria).
French armies have now surrounded Frankfurt. The siege will begin next month.
In the mediterranian, a French frigate sunk an English ship of line.
On the end of the month, some Frenchmen, loyal to robbespierre, took parts of Paris and a public revolt has begun. We are confident that Napoleon will soon reëstablish his reign, maybe only this time not as a king ...

French armies have now surrounded Frankfurt. The siege will begin next month.
These reports from France have alarmed citizens of Prussia and there are calls in some quarters for immediate action from Frederick Frunobulax III over the fate of the German Federation !

This newspaper asks - is it time that Prussia allied with Britain as well, and send a strong message to Napoleon about his claims to the city of Frankfurt ?
