Delete files in Downloads section

Ahh that's good then.. problem is the site stops you from deleting the latest version.. as you can see below there's a trashcan next to your older version (you may see it too) but not the latest one so it won't let me. I guess a workaround would be to download your old version 2.0 from Jan and re-upload it as the latest version which will make a trashcan appear next to the August one you want to remove. A bit messy though so how about we hold off on that for a sec and I'll tag admins @The_J & @leif erikson as they probably have better options than I do and may be able to kill the new Aug version and revert it back to the old Jan one.

Let me have a look....

@Blake00 do you not see this option?

otherwise, yes, seems indeed to be the case that normal users do by default not have the option to delete resources. In the permission overview in the admin section this option is listed under the moderator options.
I guess we never made this a default option for users, as with the current setup it normally should not be necessary to delete resources, as you can simply upload a new version, and there is an internal version tracking, preventing any messup. Situations like this are rare, I think :dunno:.

Yeah I've got all those same options too but we don't want to delete the entire resource. He just wants to delete the latest version and revert back to the previous one.

I did wonder whether as the owner he can see the same trashcan we can but either way the trashcan still only appears next to the older version we want to keep, and not the bad new one.

I just tried taking control of the resource to see if that granted me some extra options and it does (ie I can update the resource with a new file on his behalf) but there's still no option to delete the latest file and revert back to the previous file that I can find.

So hmm if you don't have any extra wizbang options I can't see either then I guess my idea of downloading his older version and reuploading it as a new version is the best option as it will make the trashcan button appear next to the bad version and we can wipe it.

All fixed! :) Went ahead with my 'workaround' plan and downloaded the original files, temporarily took control of the download page, then reuploaded the files, and then gave control back to Civ2Units. This then made the trashcan appear next to the bad version allowing me to delete it, and I also deleted the older one since it's now a duplicate wasting server space. Download should now behave as it once did downloading the original files.

Funnily enough I hadn't noticed until now that the new forum allows attaching multiple files to a single download version so when you click download a box comes up asking which file you want. I'll have to remember that as it could come in handy. Although I usually just combine all mod files together when doing my rescues to make it easier for people as the days of needing to split sounds from mods for slow modems and floppy disks are long gone.
