Democratic Presidential Candidate Poll

Who would you vote for?

I would say the majority of these are not legitimate candidates and an awkward stab in the dark by the OP, but theoretically you never know who will deludedly run (see Kucinich and half of the Republican field)

Jessie Jackson is my man!

Why are even half of these names listed? Michelle Obama? Chris Matthews? Bloomberg? Pelosi? Reid? Sanders? Kucinich?

I don't think any of them, and probably a few more, have given any indication they would run nor could they conceivably win the primaries.

Yeah, none of those named are even remotely plausible as Democratic candidates. Sanders and Bloomberg aren't even Democrats.

To be fair, the OP does have Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, Andrew Cuomo, Kirsten Gillibrand, and Elizabeth Warren, all of whom are potential candidates and could win the primaries under the right circumstances (ordered in terms of plausibility, but after the first two it gets pretty subjective). But there is no mention of Martin O'Malley, Brian Schweitzer, Mark Warner, John Hickenlooper, Amy Klobuchar, or even Deval Patrick, all of whom we were talking about in the BWHAP 2016 candidates thread. Those six are far more likely to be candidates in 2016 than the strange selections in this poll.

Because the OP's idea of the Democratic Party are a caricature.

Satan/Warren 2016

I have no idea who the heck Jay Nixon is, but his name sounds funny, so I'd vote for him.

He's my governor, the governor of Missouri. He's alright. He's made cuts to education I don't agree with, but given how deeply red our state legislature is I am not sure he has a whole lot of choices on stuff like that. He's not bad in any case and Missouri seems to be ok except for the whole deep red state schtick.

I would like this state a lot better if I felt it wasn't trying to actively get rid of smart young professionals like myself in order to attract more fundies and Pentecostals through legislative actions. I literally feel like I am taking state subsidies to go to a state university and learn cutting-edge engineering only so I can exit the state on graduation and Missouri is ok with that because the state as a whole hates evil liberals like myself.

Thanks VRWCAgent for helping fund my education and sorry I won't be around to pay it back by contributing to Missouri.

Yes, and to both parts. With the exception of Bernie Sanders (who couldn't win a Democratic primary anyway), there are no socialists on that list. Are you counting them as conservative because they don't want to overturn Roe v. Wade or something like that?

I wouldn't say socialist, but they are certainly statist in both the economy and social issues.

They favor more more government than I would. This include things like NDAA, Patriot Act, Obamacare, and anything that gives the federal government considerably more power than defined in the US Constitution.

Just to note, the overall foreign policy is also a too aggressive for my tastes. I would prefer to open up trade, but otherwise not get too involved. I also would not offer up a piece of Czech land to anyone, either.

Please don't tell me you are using the s-word now. :crazyeye:

Plenty of conservatives, at least they self-identified as conservatives before the term was hijacked, argued that incorporating market externalities into the price of goods was the only way the free market could properly address them.

I can't tell whether you are talking about Republican or Democratic positions on foreign policy and defense in your post (both PATRIOT and NDAA were passed with significant support from both parties).

Government intervention is the state. Is it not? So, would a large amount of intervention not be statist?

Yes, majorities in both parties hold views similar to one another but not to my views.
