Getting your wisdomb teeth pulled sucks big time. Went under yesterday at noon, and it was okay but geez talk about annoying. Completly dry thoat, cause of the breething tube, bloody nose, also cause of the tube, puffy cheeks, headache and the absolute worst thing so far massive pain in the spine. It kept me up all night. Sucked big time, that and I'm getting tired of all the soft foods I have to eat. I would give anything for a pizza or a burger or some chips

try getting a root canal ;) that experice seriouslly sucked, right after the laughing gas wore off ;)

Dude wisdom teeth removeal was awsome :D

(I was on percocet!)

Esckey are you taking a useful (safe, perscribed, but effective) amount of pain killers?

what's wrong with wisdom teeth anyway?

if so, we suggest you double it ;)

@Hygro yes I'm taking most of my meds when I'm suppose to so the back pains aren't as bad as they normally are but still pretty painfull. And since I can't go off and get new pain killers I don't really want to start taking more and then run out before it's all said and done

@Bobgote The problem with wisdom teeth is that since I'm a freak of nature that has 1 wisdom on the lower left jaw and 4 more on my upper jaw(2 on either side with 1 more coming in behind each of them) I'm guessing it took a far amount of drilling and prying to get them out, woke up with blood on my hand too.

Oh and the bill was almost $2000

I had a wisdom tooth out last month. Took over two hours and hurt like hell despite the anaesthestic. I don't know what was worse- the drilling, the gouging or the wrenching.
The dentisit says that there is now a hole in my jaw that will take at least 6 months to fill in.

But the good news is that it only cost about $50 U.S. Thanks to Japan's national health insurance scheme :)

@Bobgote in my case one was growing sideways- directly into another tooth.

@esckey: i'm more talking about why they had to come out, was there a complication like in Mrog's case?

I only have one wisdom tooth, and it hasn't come through yet. I think it is top left, but I don't remember. Either way, I am told that it will be an easy one, and it can be done right in the dentist's office. WOOHOO

Had mine been allowed to come in they would have pushed my other teeth out of line to make room. Had them all taken out when I was 16... went in, sat in the chair, they stuck a IV for the drugs in my arm, and I was out like a light :D Actually I wasn't out.. just kinda drifting back & forth in "lala land". I have vague recollections of people standing over me, and feeling them pulling at something in my mouth.. but its not like I cared ;)

Was particularly fun not being able to feel my lower lip for 6 hrs after I woke up. And then a couple weeks later when the stiches fell out. But I never really had bad pain since I had them out early.

National dental. :worship:

And I thought Canada a model. We have nothing, just a lot of golfing gougers in latex gloves. So the wife and I get our teeth serviced in Japan now.

I've had a lot of root work lately. I'm off work with flu feeling rough and - yup - a filling has come out complete with the root attachment. More wrok needed. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

To be honost it was pretty miserable getting them out. I was hungry and in pain and nausiated. However, when awake I felt pretty carefree and it was nice. Which brings me to my next subject which is that I don't abuse drugs because I know I could get addicted wayyy too easily.

To put it simply, most times wisdom teeth are removed, the operation is needed because the mouth is not big enough for all of the teeth.

I loath dentists... I am totally phobic when it comes to that... If I had to have teeth removed I'd demand the strongest painkillers. And lots of them.

I went to the dentist 2 times, horrible experiences and memories. After pulling the tooth out it bleeded all the way on the car ride back home.
Disgusting and horrible.

Horrible.

My lower right has grown with the chewing area towards the molar and thereby brings a high risk of caries so it will have to be pulled out, but the others are quite perfect. My brother had all 4 pulled out in 2 sessions: first the right ones, then the left ones. His face looked quite funny.

My wisdom teeth grew under the other molars and were pushing them out so they had to be removed. It took half an hour per wisdom tooth and after that it hurt quite a bit. The second time was worse, they hit a bloodvessel with theri drill and it turned into a bloodbath...

Thanks to the superior Dutch health insurance system it didn't cost anything. :D :goodjob:

My pearly whites, or normal colored whites -as my dentist told me, after I asked him how some people have incredibly white teeth ( which are "fake" to the extent that they're tampered with) have always been in top shape - no work ever needed.

Well - so I thought, but then the evil wisdom got to me, not once, but twice. Rather irritating, so I went to my dentist, he checked them, and told me that as they were growing up - they were making some irritation on the inside of my cheek (or is it chin in English?). He then told me to try a perscription for something to ease the pain, and to come back IF my newfound wisdom bothered me again.
I used the perscribed drugs - they calmed down, and today I still have those two uselees teeth :)
And come to think of it - the entire examination was for free as well :crazyeye:

Tis good to keep your teeth healthy ;)

I hate going to the dentist, but it's not so bad. What I really hated was the orthodontist. Braces for 2 1/4 years. Man they hurt so much. I had to get two teeth pulled to make room during the process. I had my braces when they were pulled, so the gauze I had to chomp down on to stop the bleeding got intertwined with the brackets. Ouch. Not to mention the tightenings for the brackets every 4 to 6 weeks. It was totally worth it though. My teeth are perfectly straight and very healthy. ;)

Recently, I just whitened my teeth, and they look spectacular. Every time I smile, people can't help but smile back! :D
