Was this intended to be a national wonder for everybody? It seems flavored for the Kuriotates. They have two unique national wonders that do almost exactly this same thing, just with different resources. Three different commerce boosting, luxury export manufacturing national wonders - and the Kuriotates get exactly three cities on most maps. This building says "Kuriotates Unique Wonder" to me.

I tried searching for Deruptus Brewing House in this forum, but nobody else seems to have brought this up, or it was buried in some 600 post thread about something else. Is everyone so distracted with the new scenarios that we have overlooked this? (they are frikken cool, though)

Also, what is the point of having a spare luxury resource to export if everyone has it? I know the AI doesn't build it, but it isn't because they don't want the extra commerce or are just dying to trade their valuable resources for your foreign beer - it is because they are dumb.

I don't like it, personally.

For one, "Dereptus". I don't know what that means, but it sounds like a proper noun. A place. This sounds like something that should be a world wonder, not national.

The ale resource is entirely pointless except due to the AI's stupidity.

I think it needs either a more generic name, or to be improved somewhat, and become a once only, world wonder. not national.

There aren't really enough wonders in FFH anyways.

The AI builds the Brewing House in almost every game that I play. I rarely build it because at least one AI layer will eentually trade the Ale resource to me anyway.

Also, I notice it gives dwarves +2 XP (just in that city). Is that mentioned in the civilopedia?

No, it isn't. I only found that out through the PDF manual.

I'm thinking though, maybe the Ale resource should give the XP, so it can benefit all dwarves in your empire.

i only build it if i've got more than 1 of the farm resources, otherwise it's pretty pointless. However, in your main commerce / religion city, it's pretty nice.

Still, i prefer the old breweries to this new one, but i guess we'll never see those again

I'm okay with it being pushed up somewhere and made a World Wonder.

Fall could really use more wonders, IMHO. Ind seems like a really weak trait to me right now.

Maybe Dwarven Berserkers could have Ale affinity.

Maybe every civ should get their own flavor of ale (Clan Brewing House, Bannor Brewing House, with Orcish Ale and Righteous Light Ale) so you can have all kinds of fancy imported beers. Kidding, that'd be a recipe for too many happy faces if someone imported a dozen different kinds of beer.

Still, I'm curious about the lore on it. I guess though every race has an equal chance of liking to make beer (even Elohim monks, lots of famous RL historical monasteries ended up having their own special beers, or at least some modern beers claim to trace back to that...)

The elohim should make tonic wine instead.

Buckfast tonic wine is very popular here in scotland, made originally by monks. :D

tonic? you're joking right. You're scottish, stay with your whisky.
if you want beers, take a trip to belgium, hundreds of different flavours for all to enjoy.

back on topic: would it be possible for everyone to build a brewing house, but have the first one built provide additional bonusses?

Maybe a unique World Wonder that represents where beer is invented. After it is built, other civs can build the standard Brewing House instead as a National Wonder. The early World Wonder could provide culture, GM points, and the same ale as the later National Wonder.

No, I'm not joking. Whisky is an expensive spirit. It's mostly only drunk on special occasions.

Buckfast is far and away one of the favorites among neds and alcoholics, next to white cider

How about making corn/wheat an actual requirement for the building to produce ale, rather than merely a bonus.

Then not everyone would have ale, and there would be value in trading it

Corn ale, wheet ale, and rice ale could all be unique resources that can be traded as well. Three happiness for building a wonder and having the required resources doesn't seem excessive.

The AI, is building the wonder. I have seen the resource available on the trade screen many times. I like the wonder, and I do not see why it should be a UB for the Kurios. They have nothing unique when it comes for liking and producing Ale...It is a common bad habbit for all civs in the world, real and fantasy alike.

First of all, it seems like a Khazad/Luchuirp wonder if you want to make it civ specific.

...and I saw the Dwarf xp thing in the civilopedia.

BTW, you guys realise that it can only be built on rivers like the old breweries, right? The AI won't be able to build it if it doesn't have a river city.
