Grove of the World Tree

Cost: (same as grove, can't remember what that is)
Provides: +1 GPP (Prophet), +1 Culture

Requires: Mysticism

Effect: Reveals location of all world specials, ruins, lairs, and barrows. Creates a free grove in the city that builds it.

Gives builders an early wonder that provides a useful early benefit.

Altar of Hate

The founding of the Altar has been lost to time. It is wildly suspected that it was either created by a young Kithra Kyriel or Valin Phanuel. However, anyone going to the site itself will feel the power of the ages within those stones. A small group of fanatical warrior-monks has taken care of the Altar and listened to it's secrets. Secrets of Pain which they are willing to share for their own reasons. Few leave without those secrets as the monks are always looking for more live bodies to practice their arts upon.

Graphics:
I suppose it could have the Maouri Heads for a graphic but I would hope (if found worthy) an impressive artist can draw up something more like an Aztec Temple perhaps with a small river of blood.

Cost: 200 Hammers
Tech: Ancient Chants
Effect: Will give any one race Slaying Bonus to all units created in that city.
+1 Priest PP

Point: This is a nice early game bonus push. Especially effective for those wishing to hunt Orc Barbarians. Not overpowering but cheap and useful.

Miasmatos:
900 :hammers:
Req 'Poisons'
Req Herbalist
+1 :yuck:

Grants 'Poisoned Blade' promotion to all Melee, Archery, and Mounted units built in the city.

Grants 'Diseased' promotion to all Siege units built in the city.

needs Aristocracy

+2
culture.gif

unit caps is inceased by one
(in other words unit limited by 3 are limited by 4)

End of Ages

Requires AV state religion, AC of 75+, Divine Essence, Omniscience

25,000 :hammers:
Double speed with death mana
Double speed with entropy mana
Double speed with AV Holy City

Completing this results in a victory for all AV followers (similar to the Altar for good/neutral builders), sets AC to 100

Upon starting, all Order worshippers delcare war on the builder.

All civs receive a popup message at start, 25% completion, 50%, and 75%
Builder receives a scaling negative diplomacy modifier with all non AV religions, ex -2 at 20%, -7 at 70%, etc.

+4:culture:, +.5:gp: (Great Engineer), +.5:gp: (Great Bard), +.5:gp: (Great Merchant), +.5:gp: (Great Sage), +.5:gp: (Great Prophet)
* World Wonder (1 allowed)
* All Specialists in this city provide .5:)
Requires Philosophy
300:hammers:

This Wonder is inspired by the Greek Agora, an open "place of assembly." Citizens gather here to share and exchange ideas. This exchange fosters the growth of new ideas and new thinkers across all specialties. The city that builds The Agora takes great civic pride in their specialists; each specialist will increase happiness by a small amount.

The Gulag (World Wonder)
A penal colony: prisoners developing the wilderness, think of Siberia or Australia. I would like the Doviello to beeline for this. It would fit with their theme of cruel barbarians surviving in the cold polar hemispheres. It could further enhance their andvantages on tundra tiles.

- all Tundra and Ice-Tiles in your Empire gain +1 food
- can turn two citizens into engineer
- gives 2 great engineer points
- no culture bonus
- cost 400 hammers (?)
- tech: code of laws
- Building city must have tundra or ice-tiles in the city radius

The Fountain of Eloquence

During the Age of Magic, a great evil wizard fell madly in love with a righteous and benevolent princess, who spurned his advances. He sold his soul to Hyborem in exchange for a immeasurably powerful infusion of magical charisma. Silver-tongued and suave beyond any mortal man before or since, he began his seduction of the princess; she, realizing that she was too weak to resist his charms forever, killed herself rather than become his bride. The wizard, seeing what sorrow he had caused, repented of his evil ways and died of weeping beside a local spring. His tears, still infused with the magical charisma that had proved his undoing, lent their power to the waters. Now, anyone who can hunt down the legendary location of the fountain and distill its magic essence can gain the wizard's powers of persuasion for himself - though he would be wise to remember what happened to their last owner.

Requires: Tracking

400:hammers:
+2:gp: (great bard)
+7:culture:

Effects: Each time the owner declares war on someone, there is a two-thirds chance that other civilizations will believe the owner was actually the victim of the declaration of war. This will negate any diplomatic penalties or lost honor the owner receives from the declaration. There is also a one-third chance that the fountain will have no effect and the owner will receive the usual penalties.

Temple of the Desert Gods (World wonder)

Discription
They were fanatics who belived that only the gods of old could truly save us, the world was heading into darkness and only the light offered salvation. But Mooldon, the god of the desert had a different vision - a realm of his design...

Effect
When built, the temple turns the underlying center square of the city into desert. At the start of each turn, each square adjacent this start point has a 5% chance of degrading and this effect radiates outwards from that city.

Degredation follows the pattern of Ice > Tundra > Grassland > Plains (removes forest / and jungle) > Desert and floodplain if next to river.

After the temple is built, each desert square has a 0.5% chance of spawning an oasis. Each oasis has a 1% chance of spawning a mined resource. The effect is cancelled if the city that built the Temple is razed.

- cost 1000 hammers (??)
- tech: Arcane law

This is designed to benefit the malakim but any faction that has poor desert / tundra / jungle landmass could make use of its benefit. I dont know if it is possible but it would be nice to be able to voluntarily destroy the temple at a later time to stop the spread of the desert effect...

Tome of the Theological Supremacy
World Wonder

When the Tome is built, the Armaggedon Counter increases 5 points.
Cannot be built by the Grigori.

Can only be build in a holy city, but not in the Council of Esus holy city. The religion of this holy city become the True Religion. Otherwise noted, these effects affect all the civilization which follows the same religion.

All cities where all the citzens follow only the True Religion or the Council of Esus are considered Pure Cities.

A Temple of the True Religion in a Pure City produce +4 extra culture growth.

All units produced in a Pure City are from the True Religion.

Everytime a Pure City's culture level raises it produces automatically a Seneschal unit. A Seneschal is a 3 power o unit, which can have all weapon upgrades and have the Zealous promotion. Units with the Zealous promotion receives double the defensive culture bonus.

The Tome is a Wonder Equipment like the Dragon's Hoard, so can be stolen, or moved to other city.

If it's controller isn't from the True Religion, it has none of the above effects, but all Temples of the True Religion generate 2 unhappyness.

Purge the Unfaithful costs -50% for the Tome's controller.

Civilizations which follow the True Religion receive -2 diplomatic penalty with all the heretic civilizations

Explanation:

Culture war is cool, but a lot harder than the military one. With the two Councils I believe the diplomatic game will be hotter and builder strategies more competitive. Culture war is a agressive builder strategy, demands a reaction from the oponents.

This wonder pretends two things:

- Make culture war a more viable strategy. It can increase dramatically the culture output of a civ. And if a near wannabe warlord try to take a peace of you your Paragons make a solid defense of your high-cultured cities.

- Estimulate one religion cities. I know that in Shadow inter-religion conflicts will help to ease the cosmopolitic cities problem. But I think a more controlable reason for one religion cities is desirable.

Prav, Spires of Order
World Wonder
1400:hammers:
Double Production with Law Mana

Provides 1 Law Mana
Free Courthouse and Basilica in all Cities
+2 Great Commander :gp:
+5 :culture:
-1 turn captured city revolt length
+1 :) all cities
Requires: The Order,
Unquestioning Obedience,
Courthouse and Basilica in City, Social Order
I'm not too sure about the hammer cost, may need to it ramp up a bit.

BTW the name for the wonder is from a magic the gathering card

Monument to the One

Requirements: Good or neutral civilizations only and priesthood and cannot be built in a holy city
Production cost: 2000-3000
Bonus: +2 relations with all good civilizations
-1 relations with all evil civilizations
-10% maintenance in all cities
+4 happy in city it was built in
Removes all religions from the city it was built in
Prevents religions from spreading to the city it was built in
+2 hammers per marble/stone

Sacrifice to Bhall (World Wonder)
900
hammer.gif

  • Requires: Summoning
  • Requires: Neutral or Evil Alignment
  • Grants peace to barbarians for 15 turns(if not already at peace, if so ignored)
  • Spawns 1 random Planar Gate unit(barbarian) in each of the players cities, with mobility 1

What with the new equipment rules I thought it might be fun to post a wonder that was actually an item. And while my suggestion is quite generic, I'm sure someone can come up with some great unique weapons/armors (Shoes of Swiftness, Spear of Destiny, Sword of Light, etc...).

Cursed Sword of Fury
Requires: Iron Working
200:hammers:

Equipped unit gains +4 combat (offense only) and the berserk* promotion. Replaces bronze/iron/mithral weapon (so as to not stack). Cannot be dropped except when the unit dies.

Because of the chance a berserk unit will go barbarian every turn, it will give the wielder an incentive to go out and use the sword (until they eventually die, leaving their victorious opponent the blade). It cannot be dropped so as to prevent a player from leaving the sword on the ground in order to avoid the chance to go barbarian.

*Forgive me if this is not the correct name of the promotion. I don't have the game in front of me and Wiki seems to be down.

I wasn't planning to enter one, but I figured I might as well at the last minute. (literally :) It was in 30 seconds early. I hope its ok that I cleaned it up a little after the deadline)

Gardens of Amathaon (or Succelus, or Cernunnos)

World wonder
Requires Fellowship o the Leaves state religion
requires Hidden Paths (if that tech is still in)
Requires FoL in the City

I'm not sure what it should cost, but it should be faster with Nature, Life, or Creation mana (if and when it is implemented)

+2 Great bard points
+2 food
possibly +1 Fruit of the Yggdrasil, nature mana, and/or creation mana (if and when it is implemented)

Like the National Park in BtS, it would eliminate all unhealthiness in the city

Grant +1 Bard from all forests preserves (which should be buildable with Hidden Paths, and should also get a boost from Guardian of Nature) in the city radius

I'm leaning towards using the Hanging Garden's graphics (unless you would rather make your own), but the National Park's graphics would be fine too.

The contest is closed, thanks to everyone for playing. Stay tuned for the teams top picks by Dec 2nd.

It might be closed but I have to say how impressed I am by these ideas.

 Super job.
