Hey, I'm new to the forums. I've been playing since Civ 2, and I've got to say I always felt it was ridiculous that armies of weak older units were fighting against modern tanks.
I'm not a modder, but there is one unit I always envisioned that I felt could alleviate this issue: a policeman.
It would be a unit that has a huge bonus when defending against pre-gunpowder units. I would make it very cheap to upgrade old units into this policeman unit. I'd make the unit available around the time riflemen come about.
The idea is that once you get to the modern era, I don't think old units should be able to be effective and still hang around. So an empire in the modern age would be able to upgrade old units into policemen that would be a halfway decent garrison (like musketmen) against modern units, while making melee units completely obsolete on attack.
Is there a modded unit out there already like this? If not are there any modders who agree that this is a good idea?
