<IMG SRC="http://forums.civfanatics.com/smilies/cwm3.gif" border=0> This is actually a funny story if you saw me do it. My current game
Small earth map
Chieftan(don't ask)
Raging Hordes Barbarians
7 civs(2 now)
Romans

I started the game in N. America and quickly took over America. Then moved to Africa and took a while to take over Europe and Africa

Next I spent 5 turns taking the single Barbarian city and the single Aztec city. went from old barbarian city with a Diplomat and took over one city of the final civ.- Vikings I was allied but then I went instantly to war after inciting a revolt. Now they have 5 cities left I'm taking over the capital and the northernmost city with cavalry. I am taking over the 3 other cities with Diplomats. I am under Fund. and am getting a net gain of 400 gold per turn. I am discovering Espionage and it is 1975

Aha... well, the diplomat's an exellent weapon.

Diplomats may be good but spies are better! In my latest game:
I am the Egyptians and the year is in the 1850's
In 5 turns I bribed 7 Viking cities after they had declared war on the Babylonians. I would not have minded because I was busy killing the English but the Babylonians had one city left so I had to save them!

I found that out too. I used this fact against the remaining English (now dead) and the last Viking cities (now dead)
