Quite wierd that a Surface Marshal is lumped in the NCO ranks :p. Though I consider your possition more like the Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff ;).

I look forward to learning from both Vikingruler and Cg, you both know a lot about the DG's and it'll be a good time for me to learn maybe more 'extensive' civ tactics and tricks.

Thanks for allowing me listen in VikingRuler

I have a question pretaining to my duties in our first turnchat. In the nomination thread for Defense Minister it says I control all actions of military units. So I was wondering in the first turnchat and others to come do I control the specific movements of lets say warrior or does the DP do that?

I rather answer this here than in the TCIT ;). You actualy do control the movements though the DP does the percise movements. You can say that the warrior can move in a northeasterly direction ;).

Greetings Military Leaders,

I noticed you have requested more units in the Olympus thread. At this early point of the game it is important to control our population via careful timing of settler production. If we allow the people to become unhappy, then we'll need to devote gold to their entertainment, or hire specialists who use up our food and hinder production.

Would you be amenable to holding production of the 3rd warrior band until after a settlement party has departed? At that point we will probably want to train and equip two units. Also if one unit can be allocated to each city as military police, then we will be more productive.

Another thing to consider is that we will need to limit ourselvs to high quality units in the future, to stay close to the bounds of what our population can support. It may be appropriate to limit the number of units we produce until after a barracks is available in each city.

You have made a good point and I understand your reasons for wanting to build a settler next. Therefore, I will withdraw my request for a third warrior unit until we complete the settler. Also, I would like to say that, the third warrior should head east, (current one will head west) and if we build one more, it will be fortified in Olympus or our 2nd city.

I agree that high quality units would be nice... it's more 'Ranger Commando' lol.

But seriously since we can only have so many high quality and advanced units will be best, but there' also the consideration of Barracks eating away our early GPT...

But since i'm not the Leader i'm just here to listen and learn.

We must explore our surroundings! I strongly urge you to do a circular scout-pattern, not due north. We need to plan ahead for our 5 cities, since one we plop them down, we're stuck with them. We need to explore NOW, as AI settlers will be claiming land fast.

@CT, i understand your position on wanting to move in a circular direction. When I first posted my instructions, I was under they impression we would have 2 warriors ALIVE and a 3rd one after the settler. They would go north, east, and west, just as good a circular exploration. I felt north was important, because it led to the heart of our continent. Since Ares was killed, exploration west or east was impossible, without athena stopping her northern movement. therefore, the next warrior we make will go west avoid the barbs, but go in a southwest, west, southeast direction to make a half circle. Athena will start going NE and then SE to go in the second half.

A number of exciting and tragic events happend to the famed military of Fanatikos in our last TurnChat. The second warrior who was trained and equipped, christened Warrior of Ares was sadly killed by a barbaric barbarian, in fact in a victory dance he ripped out Ares' intestines and swung them in the air. An exciting event is that of the naming of Warrior of Athena and her discovery of the Romans. They are a puny civilization who's army is weak compared to our's. However they do have a man who wields a piece of bent wood, with a string on it and thin pieces of bark with stone on it's tip.

Minister, might I suggest moving Athena to the mountain now occupied by the Roman warrior? It will give us a better view of Paris and future French lands, as well as open up more exploration paths. North to the forest, then northwest to the mountain should do the trick.

I second that request, take any advantages of any hills and mountans we come across for their extended view bonus.

mister minister, I was wondering if military units could be alocated to goveroners like workers are? Goveroners could then decide to upgrade, disband, or fortify units. they could also protect city recource tiles. what do you think

That seems like a good idea, however I felt that our 2 warriors should go in distinct directions, Athena goes east, while the other warrior that we will soon finish building will go west. Nonetheless, I will let the DP fufill your request but no continue to explore the revealed lands, but rather move east as I specified. But when the warrior we are building starts exploring, have him explore those lands when he reaches them.
@admiral-bell, you do make a strong point, but at our current military position, alocating units to the governor would hinder exploration. Yet letting the governor control certain units would prove useful at times in which an enemy is nearing, say our colony and it needs reinforcements, the DP forgets to move a unit, but the governor shouldn't. therefore, I promise to alocate units to governor's when we have a surplus of troops.
