Did anyone run PitBoss on Linux?

Have you ever tried to run PitBoss on Linux? I suppose it should be fairly easy as PitBoss doesn't use too many OS features, but who knows... I will try to run it tonight - if I succeed, I'll post here my opinion.

One thing I know for sure - it's not necessary to install Civ4, one can simply copy all files from own computer. This is a good thing as you don't have to run installer on Linux what might cause problems.

I haven't seen anyone doing it successfully, but I'll be watching this thread closely because it would be a huge help to me.

OK, I gave up - Linux installed on this box didn't had even X server there was some strange distribution (nnd), anyway I would have to reinstall it. One of my friend found old license for Win98SE, so we will use it for our PitBoss server.
Anyway - is someone will succeed to run PB on Linux, please post instructions here, I would prefer to use Linux rather than Windows because of reliability...

Ran it for over a year.
See this post and the following in this thread.

You need some kind of 3D Rendering available on the Box that runs Pitboss. But you don't need 3D Hardware. Software MESA GL is sufficient. (See other thread.)
And of course wine.
Installing has advantages. So cou can run updates later on on the Linux machine. (It's faster than copying all the stuff again with every new patch.) Some Patch installer crashes after patching... Don't worry it did its job.

I ahve instaled CIv 4 BTS 3.19 witch wine in Linux ubuntu 9.10.
civ 4 BTs and pboss have a goog work's.

but I have a problem witch civstat-uploader.
When I launch it to remote on civstat : It bugged Pboss.

any one have a soluce to remote civstat in linux?

Please read my posting there, espacially the part with "BUG".

If people cannot log into your pitboss when civstats uploader is running:
Minimize both (Pitboss and Civstats Uploader). So that no windows are visible.

I've got an idea:
Do you have any non-english characters in game name, or player names?
Pitboss dislikes special characters. Only use a-z, 0-9 and the basic symbols -+...

Change the language of Pitboss to english. Pitboss uploader dislikes other languages.
You can do this in the civilizationIV.ini. Look for the line starting with "language=".

I launch since more time pboss in aenglish language :
I' m french and in french pboss buged also in windows (freeze windows Pboss).

i'nt a pb caracters : because if i not lauch civstat : it's good work.

and i have tested creat new game and it buged when i launch civsta also and there no special caracter and buged few second after connect uploader : no one has time to connected.

What Version of wine are you running? Is it up to date?
I've seen the frozen Pitboss-Window with language=german.

Quel version de Pitboss est-ce que tu utilisier? C'est branché?
Moi, j'ai vu la fenêtre pitboss gelé avec la langue allemand.

il faut lancer le Pboss en langue anglais : pour celà va modifier le civ4.ini
chez moi aussi et sous windows aussi si je lance en français la fenètre gèle.

sinon j'ai la dernière version de wine : 1.1.38
et je suis sous civ4 3.19
