well, its fairlly plain what may have happend- after installing c3c, everything was fine- but after a few days, my sound is now broke (and has benn fgor like the past three days)

now then this event happend after quitting from a session of C3C, which had been up for a while, but I had done the same before with the game before, and had left both vanilla civ, and PTW up longer, without anything liek this happening...

now it is notable to say, that this has happend once before- in an inceident with PTW, but I forget now how I fixed it...if it was a t all- I think it happend, but am not sure...

that aside, could it have somthing to do with Direct X? when I was talking to a freind who knows alot about computers about , he said his freind had the same thing happen to him a little while ago, and it was a direct x problem... (his friend has not yet solved it)

so what do I do? what can I do?

I would first check the DirectX angle. First, check to make sure you have the latest drivers available for your sound card. (The drivers interface between your sound device and DirectX, so they should be the latest drivers to be sure they get along well with DX 9.)

You can also run dxdiag from the Start->Run box, click on the sound tab and read the "Notes" box at the bottom to see if DirectX is happy with your sound card drivers ("No problems found."). I've had things work okay even when dxdiag complains, but since you're already having a problem I'd look carefully at any complaints it has. There is also a test sound button, but I don't think it's ever helped me diagnose a problem, and I'm getting tired of hearing those same doggone test sounds over and over again.

when I get home from school I'll try these angels out right away :D thank you VERY much, I appreciate the help deeply :)

as a side note, the procedures listed here did not work :(- perhaps it is my sound card...

Bummer. I have an on-the-motherboard sound card that has given me issues with other games, so I bought an add-on card and use it, and that solved my ills. A bit drastic, but oh well. (My mb is a K7S5A w/SiS 735 chipset, FWIW, others have had sound issues with it, too. I stuck a Sound Blaster PCI in there.) I don't necessarily recommend this unless you've added your own hardware before.

Oh, in that dxdiag program there is a slider for hardware sound acceleration. You can try reducing the slider and see if that makes things work better or worse.

well, somehow, for no apperent reason, my sound has decided to work again- now celibrating bu listing to the disco classic "thats the way i like it" by KC and the sunshine band :goodjob:

Guys, I've got a similar problem. Whenever I start playing C3C, after a couple of turns (usually 1 or 2) all of a sudden there's no sound anymore. It usually happens in the middle of a turn, right after I've done something like negotiating, bombing... I can save the game, quit playing and then restart my computer, and have sound again (even after reloading). It is very annoying though.

I tried the diagnose thing you mentioned above, and it says "no problems". My soundcard is an ASRock K7s8x.

Can you please help me? I'm getting desperate..:(

I forgot to mention, my driver is a Realtek AC'97. I somehow lost the original driver so I downloaded this one. Works well, unless I start playing C3C...
