I agree, and not much reason to ponder why they moved either, we don;t have any infomation yet. Though we should note, that the Cavs are the portuguese: they are a bad rushing civ, suggesting that by moving they can expand faster even after the lost turns.

Actually, that thread was updated. Warriors now give 2000 points. Interestingly, the author has joined our team. ;)

Yes and i've been very slack in updating it:blush:.

We all have coastal starts since no one filled in 9 land tiles. Must have been a very compelling reason not to settle on the first turn.

Whoever has 4000 soliders started with mining.

Civstats shows each team with 32 score and I saw that at around the time the posted it was MS' turns; I thought they had settled but depending on the time that screenshot was taken I could be wrong.

It appears CAV settled on Turn 1 (second turn).

In general, the other teams are going for food first -- only one other team is focusing their first turns on production. I am willing to bet that team is doing the same thing we are (building a workboat).

    Average Production = 2
    Average Crop Yields = 4

I though we were the only ones with creative, how did the others expand their borders so fast?

Check F8 and see if the option "No Espionage" has been enabled?

They still have a Palace in their Capitols. In that sense, ours happened (about) twice as fast as their pop.

until cities are founded your land area is also counted by what you have explorer (that no one else has)

i.e. you explore a tile you "claim it" if someone else explore's it, then niether of you have that area until your culture is there. make sense?

So if other teams have scouts, they are moving faster and thus temporarily "claiming" more land.

Are you 100% sure that is correct Memphus?

As far as I can see we are on Turn 5, so the every non-creative civ which settled on the first turn should have its border popped.

    i am 90% sure.

how else can you explain someone having more land than us? at most they would have the same.....?

The land stats are equal to land tiles within cultural borders.

Example. Inland city founded gives 9 tiles(including city tiles)=9000m^2.
Popping 2nd ring (no water tiles) gives additional 12 landtiles, so altogether 21 land tiles = 21000m^2.
That is the maximum you can get after the first border pop.

Now we have a coastal start, therefore we only have 14 landtiles in our BFC = 14000m^2 . A civ with 17000m^2 has 17 landtile in its BFC and 4 water tiles.

Does that mean that everyone is starting on the coast?
