    • 12 points from a classical tech, then top cities show two at size 7, founded 2960 and 2440 BC. Top civ gained 11,000 power points, 1,000 of which is from pop growth.

1889, the 16 point los Cavs got, I take it that was a 3 pop whip in one of the two size 7 cities? A shot of the top 5 cities and demographics would be useful, if sopmeone could get them...

Thanks Ronnie, so it was a three pop whip, could have been lib, temple, or settler, althought a settler is very unlikely as an IMP civ, it would have to have less than 9 hammers invested to get a three pop whip, but if you can get it, and overflow into a wonder it's a decent start...total overflow would be between 30 and 45 hammers IMO, if it were a settler. Then again, whipping a lib or temple...

I’ve gotten behind here because I made a mistake about 5 turns ago and couldn’t get the numbers to work out. Figured it out now though, I had given Saturn a tech when it should have been land points and gave MS land points that should have been a tech. Here are corrected numbers for everyone now.

    SATURN 155
    Pop 8 (43) Land 24 (25) Tech 12 ancient (71) Wonders 1 (16)
    • Saturn: sizes 5, 2 and 1

    KAZAHKSTAN 250
    Pop 13 (70) Land 37 (39) Tech 13 ancient, 4 classical (125) Wonders 1 (16)
    • Kazahkstan: sizes 6, 4, 2 and 1

    MAD SCIENTISTS score 205
    Pop 13 (70) Land 29 (30) Tech 11 or 13 ancient, 2 or 1 classical (89) Wonders 1 (16)
    • Mad Scientists: sizes 5, 5, 2 and 1 with the Hindu holy city

    CAVALLEROS score 268
    Pop 18 (98) Land 45 (47) Tech 10 ancient, 4 classical (107) Wonders 1 (16)
    • Cavalleoros: sizes 8, 4, 3 and 2 with the Buddhist holy city

      Saturn: sizes 5, 2 and 2

Kaz have a library, and are running 2 scientists (that's the increase in culture on their graphs, and the increase in science). Definately not good, but then again, expected. Just proof that they aren't lazy.

How can you tell they are running two scientists?

I took a quick look at power myself:
Kaz 54,000 soldiers (6 from pop, 32 from tech, 16 units and buildings)
Cav 58,000 soldiers (9 from pop, 30 from techs, 19 units and buildings)

Cav's have a barracks (it's the only way to get an odd number). And assuming they have a warrior in each city, Kaz that means Kaz can only have 4 other warriors for exploration or defence although they may have an axe they can't have more than two. After city garrisons Cav can have 3 warriors or 1 axe.

Intuition. Kaz have an increase in culture, and a massive jump in GNP on the same turn. They had 2 options for the increase in culture, a lib or a monument, so either they either built a monument in a second city, and started working 3-4 river cottages simultaneously or a gold/gems (tech bonus isn't possible, as they were researching CoL which has only 1 optional prerequisite, and Sullla giving a team easy access to such a resource seems unlikely considered this is a balanced map and he knows exactly why you don't do such a thing), or they built a library and started working 2 scientists. If the lib was in the capital (which was their only city above size 2 at the time, right?), then that would be an extra 7.5 beakers from the scientists, and the extra commerce from the palace and seafood would also have been multiplied, leading to the massive increase of at least 10 GNP, probably closer to 15 IMO

The best way to brainstorm what an opponent is doing, is trying to put yourself in their situation (and in this case, I just consider what a team would do with land similar to our own) and then think of the craziest . .. .. .. . I could ever try and pull. It's kinda how I design economic strategies as well.

That said, the below picture (pestering Memphus can be useful sometimes...) shows Kaz also have a stagnant cropyield atm. I could, if I was incredably interested and not busy atm trying to not sxcrew up my last ever set of lab sessions, figure out exactly what Kaz built and when by this picture and the MFG graph, but that might have to wait a fortnight until the end of term...1889, care to suggest what Kaz did in the early game? I think I have it down that they went Worker>workboat>settler, but I haven't fitted in any warriors to that bit, but it does take our understanding of them to around t35, and I'll see how it jives with my earlier stab at their early game growth strategy in this thread, around page 3.

Kaz running 2 Scientists would give 12 GNP just from the great people points, plus the science. (3 for each scientist, +100% for Philo.

gpp don't show up under GNP graphs. In fact I don;t think they show up at all unless you can investigate the city using espionage.
