Bonjour CivFr,

Cordialement,
Ambassadeur Bowsling

Hello CivFr,

We are delighted to have met you! We have heard many tales about the Mayans, and especially of the great Mausoleum of Mausollos.

Despite our unfortunate war with the Zulu, we are a peace-loving people (so much so, that we chose Mansa Musa of India). We would like a non-aggression pact, effective now, if you agree, for fifty turns.
Equally excited about our contact with the Mayans are the Indian merchants. They promise us that there are lucrative profits to be made if we could establish trade routes with Mayan cities. Indian cities would also be profitable destinations for Mayan trade. To make this happen, we would need open borders. Are you interested?

Sincerely,
Ambassador Bowsling

Hello, I'm popeyou from civfr, below is a diplomatic message for ISDG game.

-----------------------------
Dear indians,

Despite we have willingness of peace, we are reluctant to sign long term peace treaty for our neighbours, until to agree on a common goal in this game.

We also see that you are in war against zulu, can you advise more on the reason for this war? Zulu agression or border conflict?

Best regards,

Mayans

Bonjour popeyou of the Mayans,

Thank you for your message. We prefer dealing with teams that know what they want and come right out and say it. We appreciate that you prefer not to sign a long-term NAP until we can agree to some common goals. Do you have any goals in mind? How would you feel about just Open Borders for now? That will help both our teams with the lucrative trade routes. We are starting to hook up some extra happy resources. Perhaps you would be interested in a trade?

As for the Zulu, they declared war on us without warning. We had fine relations with them up until the DOW. They moved some troops into our land, but have now pulled back into their own borders. We're not quite sure what they're up to. If you have any vision on their troop movements, we'd appreciate the intel!

We look forward to a long friendship with your team.

Dear Indians,

We had some zulu troops staying at our borders, but they have now disapeared and may have gone to your direction. This is for your information.

We have only an unprecise view of the area where you are from, and unfortunately no extra ressources available for instance.

Best regards,

Mayans

Thank you very much for the warning.

Those Zulus are indeed real pain. Can you please tell us what number and kind those Zulu soldiers were?

Sincerely,
Ambassador Bowsling

Just met their turnplayer Inao and I threw the idea they to give us gems and us to give them wine. He will post and come to us with their decision. We would like to have +1 happy, right?

Received April 20, 2013:

Dear indians,

Zulus stack was 3 catas and 3 axes, but we don't know the direction they took. We just no more see them at our border.

Regarding the exchange gems vs wine seams not balanced (2 happiness with mills against one happiness and one future health). What can be your proposal in top of wine? Some gold per turn?

Best regards,

Mayans

Received May 2, 2013:

Dear Indians,

First of all, we now see than you are in peace with zoulus and that we can now open borders to gain trade routes between our nations. Are you interessted in this?

By the way, can you told us more about the relationship with zulus and the reasons to come to war with them.

We have also popped-up a great merchant, that we want to create a trade mission in your cap. Are you OK to accept this?

We think that we can do a lot in this world with a good cooperation.

Looking forward to hearing you soon.

Best regards,

Mayans

Hello French friends,

Of course we will be willing to trade maps with our friends and trade partners. We are still interested in purchasing your extra source of gems. Do you accept offer: your gems for our wines and 1 gpt per forge built on our side? The sooner we can get this deal worked out, the better. Also, we want to make this deal longer than the minimal. What you say if we sign this gems for wines deal for 20 turns?

Dear Indians,

As said in game, we were planning to attack the Zulus but you were faster than us. We are going to attack although our army isn't currently as strong as we want it. We want to take Chinooks, Nongoma and Nobamba. We also plan to settle one city west of Nobamba and another to the east of Ulundi.

Some of our resources can be put in the balance if this may help the negotiations.

We feel it is necessary to discuss of this between us before any serious move in order to avoid coming to a war situation between us.

Best regards,

Maya
