Hey guys, looking for some info on diplomacy modifiers - in particular for vanilla Civ 4 (1.74).

I am curious because I won a space race victory in a game but decided to carry on and attempt to unite everyone under a diplomatic vote just for closure :king:

Problem was, the couple of other leaders that did like me I couldn't get to like me enough to do this.

Old negatives were sitting there and despite giving them 500 gold per turn each, I couldn't raise it any more than +1 or +2 (can't remember). There were no more techs to gift, and since someone else had previously put a UN vote for Environmentalism forth and it passed, I couldn't get back to the religious pluses I'd had.

Are there maximums for each and every modifier? And do any decay over time, such as 'trading with worst enemy'?

Nah everyone I was donating to was friends, and I was watching for those modifiers.

But it seems as though no matter how much you give someone, the positive modifier for 'we appreciate the years you have supplied us with resources' caps at +2, so there's no way to buy the friendship any further.

Most modifiers do have caps and many of them are defined in the leaderhead XMLs. For example the resource trade modifier you mentioned is capped by the iBonusTradeAttitudeChangeLimit personality value which is 2 for every leader in BTS 3.17 and probably also 2 for everyone in vanilla (I don't have a handy spreadsheet to check for that version ;)) Similarly the "fair and forthright" trade modifier is capped at +4 although the range for that one is hardcoded in the SDK.

While it is updated for BTS, reading ori's Attitude reference could still be useful since much of it would still apply.
